What is sugar earwax?

Sugary earwax may be caused by excessive secretion of the body's oil glands, and it is not ruled out that it is caused by physiological factors or excretion disorders.

1. Excessive secretion of oil glands: Patients often like to eat fried foods or do not maintain good local hygiene. Their own oil glands secrete too vigorously, and the secretion of cerumen glands in the ear canal will also increase, thereby increasing the amount of earwax in the ear canal, and the patient will have symptoms of sugary earwax.

2. Physiological factors: With age, muscles become loose or the mandibular joint movement function declines. These factors will affect the discharge of earwax, the cerumen glands gradually atrophy, and the earwax is not easy to fall off after drying, thus causing symptoms of sugary earwax.

3. Eliminate obstacles: Under normal circumstances, earwax in the ear canal will fall off and be discharged automatically with the human body's chewing function or talking. For some people whose external auditory canals are narrow or have scars, earwax is not easy to be discharged and will block the external auditory canal. If it is not improved for a long time, symptoms of sugary earwax will appear as the body's own oil glands secrete.

When washing your hair or swimming, you should take protective measures against the ears to prevent water from entering the ears. This can reduce infections in the ear canal. You should regularly use cotton balls to clean the external auditory canal. If necessary, you should go to the hospital to improve symptoms through suction.
