Can gout drink green tea?

Drinking tea has become a culture. People often have the habit of drinking tea in their daily lives, especially when facing computers every day and exposed to strong radiation from mobile phones. Drinking some green tea can help improve eyesight and detoxify, which is why many people like it. However, people with gout are more cautious because many improper diets can directly cause gout. Therefore, they are more worried about the impact of gout and green tea on physical health, especially whether it will have an impact on gout?

Gout is a type of arthritis caused by uric acid accumulation due to purine metabolism disorder. The definition of gout is that the metabolism of a substance called purine in the human body is disturbed, the synthesis of uric acid increases or the excretion decreases, causing hyperuricemia. When the blood uric acid concentration is too high, uric acid is deposited in the joints, soft tissues, cartilage and kidneys in the form of sodium salt, causing a foreign body inflammatory reaction in the tissue, which is called gout.

Tea alkali is metabolized into methylurate in the human body. Its molecular structure is different from that of urate and it will not deposit to form tophi. Therefore, it is currently believed that the ban on drinking tea lacks sufficient scientific basis, and this beverage is weakly alkaline. Drinking it in moderation is beneficial to the excretion of urate from the urine, which is beneficial to the condition.

Can gout patients drink tea?

Now that we know that people with gout can drink tea, we need to pay more attention to our eating habits in daily life to help control the development of gout.

1. Drink plenty of water, keep it between 1500 and 3000 ml per day, drink it in small amounts multiple times to help excrete uric acid.

2. Do not drink alcohol. Alcohol can easily cause lactic acid accumulation in the body, which inhibits the excretion of uric acid and can easily induce gout. Strictly abstain from alcohol. Beer and seafood are absolutely prohibited. Beer itself contains alcohol, which will affect the excretion of uric acid; and during the oxidation process of alcohol, some substances will be produced that increase uric acid. Seafood contains purine and protein. Excessive intake of protein will put our body in a slightly acidic environment, which will promote the formation of uric acid crystals. In addition, if a large amount of seafood is consumed in a short period of time, the large amount of purine will cause a sharp increase in uric acid. Although our dietary factors only account for 10% to 20% of uric acid, eating a large amount of seafood in a short period of time will cause a sharp increase in uric acid. Drinking alcohol will affect excretion and aggravate gout.

3. Avoid eating large amounts of high-purine foods, such as peanuts, beef, pork, seafood, such as animal offal, sardines, tuna, beans and fermented foods; fish, shrimp, fresh meat, peas, spinach, wine, etc.! Avoid stewed or braised meats.

4. Protein can be consumed in proportion to body weight. 0.8 to 1 gram of protein should be consumed for every 1 kilogram of body weight, and milk and eggs should be the main sources. If it is lean meat, chicken, duck, etc., it should be boiled and then the soup should be removed before eating.

5. There is no limit on the amount of vegetables, fruits and milk in the diet, but eat less salt, which should be limited to 2 grams to 5 grams per day.

6. The daily diet structure should be mainly composed of carbohydrates, which can promote the excretion of uric acid. You can choose refined white rice, enriched flour, corn, steamed bread, noodles, etc.

7. Avoid inducing factors such as excessive fatigue, tension, cold, and joint injuries.

8. It is not advisable to use drugs that inhibit the excretion of uric acid.

9. Eat less fat, because fat can reduce the excretion of uric acid.
