Burning sensation in the urethra and the urge to urinate

If you feel a burning sensation at the urethral opening and always have the urge to urinate, you may have urethritis. After urethritis, patients need to pay special attention to their diet during the illness and medication period. There are many things that you cannot eat, otherwise it will aggravate the inflammation and prolong the treatment period. When urethritis occurs, do not eat spicy food. Also, do not eat irritating foods such as leeks and ginger. Eat more foods rich in vitamin C.

1. What is urethritis?

Urethritis refers to the inflammation of the urethral mucosa. It is a common urinary tract infection and can be clinically divided into acute and chronic types. It is mostly caused by retrograde invasion of pathogenic bacteria into the urethra. The classification of urethritis is relatively complex and covers a wide range. It can be roughly divided into: urethritis caused by non-sexual behavior and urethritis caused by sexual behavior or similar sexual behavior. Common complications in men include epididymitis, prostatitis, and seminal vesiculitis, while complications in women include endometritis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and peritonitis.

  1. Diagnosis

    1.Urethra irritation symptoms.

    2. The urethral opening is red and swollen, with purulent secretions and tenderness along the urethra.

    3. There are a large number of red blood cells and white blood cells in the urine, and the first cup of urine in the three-cup urine test is obviously abnormal.

    4. The presence of pathogenic bacteria in urethral secretion smear staining or bacterial culture can be used to differentiate it from gonococcal urethritis.

    3. What should not be eaten for urethritis

    1. Avoid spicy food. Eating too much spicy food (chili pepper, ginger, onion, garlic, etc.) can easily cause dryness and heat, which can cause heat and toxicity to accumulate in the internal organs, resulting in symptoms such as swollen and painful gums, mouth sores, short and red urine, burning sensation in the anus, itching and pain in the front and back of the vulva, thus aggravating the symptoms of this disease.

    2. Avoid seafood that may cause irritation. Fishy foods, such as mandarin fish, yellow croaker, hairtail, black fish, shrimp, crab and other aquatic products can promote damp heat, aggravate vulva itching after eating, and are not conducive to the disappearance of inflammation, so they should be avoided.

    3. Avoid sweet and greasy food. Greasy foods such as lard, fatty pork, cream, butter, mutton fat, etc., high-sugar foods such as chocolate, candy, desserts, cream cakes, etc., these foods help to increase moisture and heat, which will increase the secretion of leucorrhea and affect the treatment effect.

    4. Avoid smoking and drinking. Smoking can aggravate urethritis because the nicotine in tobacco can weaken the binding force between arterial blood and oxygen. Alcohol can promote dampness and heat, so it should be avoided. Similarly, foods containing alcohol, such as fermented rice wine and medicinal wine, should not be consumed.

    4. Diet therapy

    1. Take 10 grams each of Amaranth seeds or roots and raw licorice. Decoction in water.

    2. Use 10 grams of Coptis chinensis, 30 grams each of Oldenlandia diffusa and Portulaca oleracea, 15 grams each of Smilax glabra, Sophora flavescens, Dictamni, Dianthus superbus, Dianthus radix, Acorus gramineus, and Cyathula officinalis, and 6 grams each of Akebia and Licorice. Take 1 dose daily, decocted in water and taken in 2 doses.

    3. Use 50 grams of wolfberry, 100 grams of Poria cocos, and 100 grams of black tea. Grind wolfberry and poria into coarse powder, take 5-10 grams each time, add 6 grams of black tea, and brew with boiling water for 10 minutes. Take twice a day as tea.

    4. Take 30 grams of Tongcao and 30 grams of Houttuynia cordata. Can be consumed as a tea substitute, any number of times.
