How to deal with scalds caused by boiling water? The most important thing is to decide according to the situation

Accidents can happen at any time in life, and scalding by boiling water is particularly common. If the injury is mild, you can rinse with cold water or apply ginger juice; if the injury is moderate, you need to soak in cold water or apply burn ointment; if the injury is severe, do not apply any medicine to the burn area and you must be transferred to the hospital urgently for treatment.

1. Mild burns

1. Rinse with cold water

Be careful not to let the water flow from the faucet be too fast to avoid excessive impact that may increase skin pain. Rinse slowly with cold water or soak the burned area in cold water until the pain is gone.

Note: Do not use ice cubes or ice water to cool the skin to avoid frostbite caused by low temperature

2. Apply ginger juice

Because ginger has the effect of relieving pain and reducing swelling, when you are scalded by boiling water and the burn is mild, you can apply ginger juice to the scalded area to achieve the effect of treating the burn.

3. Apply a little toothpaste

After accidentally getting scalded, follow the method in step 1 until the pain is gone, then apply a small amount of toothpaste to the scalded area. Since toothpaste generally contains mint, it can have a certain cooling and analgesic effect on the scalded area.

Note: Do not apply too much at one time. You should first apply a thin layer of toothpaste gently. When you feel a little pain after a while, continue to apply some more.

4. Apply rapeseed oil tea powder

While carrying out step 1, if you have dry tea leaves at home, you can crush them into powder, then pour in an appropriate amount of vegetable oil and mix it into a viscous state. After rinsing with cold water, gently apply the vegetable oil tea powder to the scalded area, which can play a certain role in reducing swelling and relieving pain.

2. Moderate burns

1. Soak in cold water

If it is a moderate burn, you should soak the burned area in cold water for about half an hour to achieve the pain relief effect, and then apply some topical ointment. But remember not to break the skin to avoid infection.

2. Do not take off the clothes on the burned area

Once you are scalded by boiling water, you cannot take off the clothes on the scalded area immediately, such as socks, shirts, etc. Instead, you should immediately rinse it slowly with cold water. This will not only lower the temperature of the scalded area, but also prevent the blisters from growing or getting bigger. Wait until the pain is not so strong before slowly taking off your clothes.

3. Apply burn ointment

If the blisters on the scalded area are relatively large, after soaking them in cold water, you can gently puncture them with a sterilized needle to slowly let the blood in the blisters flow out, then apply some burn ointment, and then gently wrap them with gauze; if the scalded areas are on the hands or feet, raise the scalded areas appropriately to reduce the swelling of the blisters.

3. Severe burns

1. Elevate the burned area

In case of severe burns, do not rinse with cold water. Instead, let the person lie down immediately, use clothing to elevate the burned area to reduce the swelling of local blisters, and use sterilized scissors to gently cut the clothing on the burned area while waiting for rescue personnel to transfer to the hospital for treatment.

2. Avoid drinking a lot of water

After being severely burned, people will feel thirsty. At this time, you can give them a little salt water to drink, but avoid giving them large amounts of boiled water or other beverages to avoid complications of pulmonary edema or cerebral edema.

3. Do not apply any medicine on the burn area, and transfer to the hospital urgently.
