Symptoms of tendinitis

Symptoms of tendinitis

Tendons are tissues used to connect muscles and bones in the human body and to transmit the pressure generated by muscles. Tendons are relatively resilient and can withstand various bending and stretching of the human body. However, if they are overworked and stretched excessively, this fibrous tissue will be more easily torn and damaged, then tendonitis will occur. Therefore, everyone must pay attention to their posture when exercising and working, and do not overwork themselves.

Tendonitis is usually painful when it occurs. In severe cases, the pain will continue and will be accompanied by swelling and numbness. Therefore, you need to seek medical attention in time and strictly follow the doctor's orders. Do not let the affected area bear pressure or twist it at will. This will help the recovery of the disease. Let us introduce the specific symptoms and manifestations of tendonitis.

symptom

Tenderness in or near a joint, especially around the shoulder, wrist, or heel (here called Achilles tendinitis) or on the outside of the elbow (here called tennis elbow).

In some cases, numbness or tingling occurs.

Painful joint stiffness that limits movement of the affected joint.

Occasionally, there is mild swelling in the joints.

Persistent pain that persists after a tendon injury has occurred or occurs long after the original injury. You should see a doctor if the following situations occur

If the pain does not improve after 7 to 10 days, you should see a doctor to avoid developing chronic tendinitis or other complications such as bursitis, wrist syndrome or phlebitis.

If the pain is severe and there is swelling, there may be a tendon rupture and immediate treatment is needed. Causes

When the tendon is overstressed during exercise, it can cause tendon inflammation. Weekend athletes who exercise occasionally rather than regularly are rarely bothered by tendon pain, which is most often caused by stress on the same joint from the same repetitive motion. It doesn’t just happen in sports, but it can happen in many types of office work or other situations.

Clinical manifestations of tenosynovitis

pain

Most people cannot clearly point out the location of the pain, but only complain of joint stiffness, soreness or a feeling of lack of strength in the joints during exercise. Sometimes a band-like pain is felt.

Local swelling

The affected tendon will have cord-like bulges of varying degrees.

Dysfunction

Tenosynovitis occurring in the wrist of the upper limb often affects the players' power, and sometimes causes deformation of movements when hitting the ball. Tenosynovitis occurring in the ankle will cause pain during exercise and affect movements. The tendon sheath is a sheath-like structure that surrounds the tendon. The outer layer is fibrous tissue, which is attached to the bones and adjacent tissues and plays a role in fixing and protecting the tendons. The inner layer is the synovium, which nourishes the tendon and secretes synovial fluid to facilitate the sliding of the tendon. Due to repeated excessive friction, the tendon and tendon sheath become inflamed, edematous, and the fibrous sheath wall thickens to form a narrow ring. The fibrosis and thickening of the tendon make it difficult for the tendon to slide in the sheath, which is stenosing tenosynovitis.

We all know about tendonitis. Most cases of tendonitis are caused by overwork or compression, but some people may get sick without any external force or their own strength. Therefore, we should do appropriate physical exercise in our daily life, but not excessively, or do the same action repeatedly to avoid the trouble of tendonitis.
