What causes numbness in the big toe?

Toe numbness is a complication of many diseases, such as folic acid deficiency, bone schwannoma, rheumatic bone disease and other types of diseases, which can cause the occurrence of this symptom. If you want to relieve the symptoms of toe numbness, you need to go to the hospital first to find out the cause, and then treat the symptoms, so that the symptom can be completely cured. Below we will introduce the causes of toe numbness in detail!

Folic acid deficiency

Folate deficiency refers to a clinical syndrome characterized by megaloblastic anemia caused by insufficient folic acid intake or malabsorption. Folic acid deficiency can cause emotional changes, which can disappear with folic acid supplementation. Folic acid deficiency in pregnant women can increase the incidence of preeclampsia and placental abruption. Pregnant women with megaloblastic anemia are prone to intrauterine growth retardation, premature birth and low birth weight of the newborn. Lack of folic acid in early pregnancy can also easily cause fetal neural tube defects (such as spina bifida, anencephaly, etc.). Folic acid deficiency can cause hyperhomocysteinemia, thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Bone Schwannoma

Bone schwannoma is a rare benign tumor arising from the nerve sheath cells in the bone. It is common in the mandible, sacrum, ulna and humeral shafts, and most cases occur in young and middle-aged men aged 20 to 50. The tumor develops slowly and the course of the disease is long. Most patients are middle-aged men. The main symptoms are neurogenic pain and numbness. The symptoms are mild but the course of the disease is long. Local bone expansion. If the bone is penetrated, local masses and pathological fractures may occur. Nodules along the nerve trunk can be touched, and pressure causes nerve pain and numbness. There is generally no spontaneous pain or discomfort. Neurofibromas in the lumbar and sacral spine can cause low back pain or sciatica, but are often misdiagnosed; they can also cause symptoms such as bladder and rectal dysfunction.

Rheumatic bone disease

Rheumatic bone disease is mainly caused by poor blood circulation due to wind and cold, resulting in poor nutrition supply to muscles, ligaments, bursae and fascia. In addition to pain, joint diseases are also accompanied by swelling and movement disorders, and present a chronic course of alternating attacks and remissions. Some patients may also experience joint disability and visceral failure.
