What medicine should I take if my sperm contains blood?

If a man finds that his sperm shows signs of blood during ejaculation, even a little bit of blood means that the sperm is unhealthy. It may be caused by inflammation of the seminal vesicle or testicles. These are important factors that are enough to cause blood in the sperm. Therefore, to improve it in normal times, it is necessary to find the cause and then give treatment.

1. Concept

Hematospermia refers to a condition in which semen is mixed with blood. Depending on the amount of blood contained, it may appear as blood in the semen, blood clots, or only a small number of red blood cells under a microscope. Hematospermia is one of the male reproductive system diseases, with an incidence rate of about 1%. Most of them are caused by benign lesions, which are more common in patients under 40 years old. At least 70% of hematospermia in patients under 30 years old is caused by inflammation, and for patients with hematospermia over 40 years old, if the hematospermia persists for more than several months, 5%-10% will have malignant transformation.

2. Causes

Where does the blood come from? It is nothing more than a lesion in a certain tissue part of the sperm's path. Except for the sperm, which is a very small part, the components of semen mainly come from the seminal vesicles, followed by the prostate. Patients with hematospermia can be divided into three categories according to different causes: pathological hematospermia, functional hematospermia and idiopathic hematospermia.

(I) Pathological hematospermia mainly has the following causes:

1. Inflammation: ( whether there are symptoms of urinary tract infection such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating) seminal vesiculitis, prostatitis, and urethritis. Sperm fumonitis: Chronic fumonitis can easily lead to testicular hypertrophy, causing difficulty in urination and painful ejaculation. Due to the congestion and edema of the seminal collenchyma tissue, the mucosa is prone to rupture and bleeding. Especially during sexual intercourse, the posterior urethra contracts strongly, making hematospermia more likely to occur.

The wall of the seminal vesicle is very thin. Once it is congested, the cyst wall filled with blood vessels will easily bleed. Therefore, the most common cause of hematospermia is seminal vesiculitis. Due to poor drainage, it can easily become chronic, causing secondary obstruction of the vas deferens and edema and blockage of the ejaculatory duct opening, resulting in dry ejaculation with only ejaculation action but no semen discharge. This is the mechanism by which hematospermia causes infertility. The second most common disease is prostatitis and posterior urethritis or posterior urethral congestion. When the urethra is inflamed, especially when the urethra is inflamed at the spermatorrhea, hematospermia is likely to occur, and its characteristic is that the first part of the semen contains blood. Inflammation may also spread from other nearby organs, causing inflammation, swelling, congestion and bleeding of the seminal vesicle wall.

2. Tumor (whether there are symptoms of urinary tract obstruction such as dysuria)

(1) Benign tumors such as seminal vesicle cyst, hemangioma, seminal vesicle leiomyoma, seminal papilloma, prostatic hypertrophy, etc.;

(2) Malignant tumors such as seminal vesicle cancer, prostate cancer, bladder and urethra tumors, and testicular tumors;

(3) Hematospermia caused by inflammation may get better or worse, and may come and go, while hematospermia caused by tumors may become more and more severe.

3. Congenital : such as ectopic ureter, when the opening of the ureter is in the urethra, it is easy to cause hematospermia;

4. Tuberculosis (whether there are symptoms of tuberculosis such as expectoration, hemoptysis, low fever in the afternoon, night sweats, etc. If white blood cells are found in semen and it is not cured after repeated antibacterial treatment, the possibility of tuberculosis should be considered at this time.)
