Stomach and rib pain

Stomach and rib pain

When the ribs hurt, it will affect the gastrointestinal function and may also cause dull pain. This is because the ribs and organs are connected and have a lot of nerve tissue. Rib pain is mainly caused by internal inflammatory compression and organ inflammation, so special attention should be paid to it.

Differential Diagnosis

Rib pain: The thoracic vertebrae on the back corresponding to the ribs are slightly displaced, causing the costal nerves to be stuck or adhered, which will cause pain. There is muscle damage at the painful point, causing aseptic inflammation, which stimulates the costal nerves and causes pain.

Side rib pain, pain and tenderness in the sternocostal joints, pain that worsens with chest expansion and upper limb movement.

Right-sided rib pain syndrome is more common in young women and is more common in the 2-4 sternocostal joints. Can be single shot or multiple shot. The cause of the disease is not very clear and is related to trauma, so it is common in manual laborers and gymnasts.

Mitigation methods

Don't stress your side ribs; if it hurts, slow down the activity you're doing.

Raise your arms above your head alternately so that your chest can expand and contract more when you breathe.

Once the pain subsides, you can resume exercise. If side rib pain returns, stop activity immediately.

As you exercise, try to take longer and deeper breaths. Short, rapid breaths can cause your muscles to overwork.

Exercising without warming up is most likely to cause side rib pain.

Exercise can be performed 45 to 60 minutes after a meal.

If you plan to exercise, eat smaller amounts and avoid spicy foods.

Make sure you're drinking enough water.

Don't drink alcohol before exercise, as alcohol has a diuretic effect and can cause dehydration.
