I don’t know if you have noticed in life that there is a type of person with facial paralysis. Some people say that a person has facial paralysis because he or she is usually serious and always looks very serious. But some people are born with facial paralysis, which means that their facial nervous system develops slowly and they cannot make various expressions. So what medicine is most effective for facial paralysis? Traditional treatments for facial paralysis, sequelae of facial paralysis, hemifacial spasm, and trigeminal neuralgia all use acupuncture, plasters, cupping, incision, fire needles, electroacupuncture, physical therapy, nasal congestion medicines, interventional treatments, facial drug injections, and some folk remedies such as rubbing eel blood. These traditional methods have made significant contributions to the development and prosperity of the Chinese nation and to the elimination of diseases, and are treasures in the country's medical arsenal. However, the treatment of facial muscle diseases such as facial paralysis, sequelae of facial paralysis, hemifacial spasm, trigeminal neuralgia, etc. has serious and even insurmountable sequelae, which is the source of great pain for a large number of patients throughout their lives. The facial muscles are flat, thin skin muscles and strip-shaped flat muscles. These muscles originate from different parts of the skull and are distributed around the palpebral fissures, oral fissures, and nostrils. They are connected to the surrounding muscle tissue in the form of flat circular muscles and flat radial muscles. When these muscles contract and relax, they have the effect of opening and closing the eyes, mouth, and nostrils. At the same time, it affects the movement of the facial skin, expressing various expressions such as joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. There are about 26 muscles in the face. They overlap with each other and have their own functions, such as acupuncture, cupping, plastering, electroacupuncture, fire needles, facial injections of nerve nourishing drugs, and interventional treatments. These treatments can cause damage, bleeding, fibrosis and inflammation in these muscles. Therefore, facial paralysis is best treated with acupuncture, with manipulation as the main method, without the use of drugs or electroacupuncture during the treatment. Acupuncture treatment Principle: dispel wind and dredge meridians. Prescription: Hegu, Taichong, Qianzheng, Cheek Cart through Dicang, Dicang through Cheek Cart, Fengchi, Xiaguan, Yingxiang, Chengjiang or Cheek Chengjiang. Choose three or four points each time. Addition and subtraction: For those with eyelids that cannot close and eyes that are exposed and tears flowing, add Zanzhu, Yuyao, Sizhukong, and Yangbai Tou Yuyao. For pain behind the ear, add Yifeng. For those with decreased sense of taste, add Lianquan. Technique: Balanced tonification and drainage, needle withdrawal method. Operation: Use the drainage method for Hegu, Taichong, and Fengchi, and use the flat tonification and drainage method for Xiaguan, Qianzheng, Yingxiang, and others. Puncture Yangbai horizontally downward through the fish waist, puncture Dicang horizontally toward Jiache, puncture Jiache obliquely toward Dicang, and use the needle withdrawal method to make the facial muscles twitch backwards. Leave the needle in place for 20 minutes. The remaining acupoints are treated with the method of equal tonification and equal drainage. Plaster treatment A kind of Chinese medicine for external use, known as thin patch in ancient times, is made by boiling vegetable oil or animal oil with medicine into a gelatinous substance, which is applied to one side of cloth, paper or leather. It can be stuck on the affected area for a long time. It is mainly used to treat sores, reduce swelling and pain, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and dredge meridians. As early as in ancient times, Chinese medical scientists said: "Plasters can cure diseases, just like decoctions. If used properly, the effect will be immediate." Plasters such as Mian Tan Kang are effective in treating facial paralysis. They are convenient, time-saving and low-cost. They are currently an important method for treating facial paralysis. Diet therapy Traditional Chinese medicine believes that facial paralysis is mostly caused by empty meridians, invasion of wind and cold evil, or wind-heat, wind-phlegm, and blood stasis blocking the meridians, causing disharmony of Qi and blood, and causing tendons and muscles to relax and fail to contract. If Chinese medicine and acupuncture are taken seriously at an early stage, the therapeutic effect will be good. Western medicine advocates the early use of glucocorticoids and drugs such as improving blood circulation, nourishing nerves, and antivirals. However, if hormones are overused, many adverse reactions and side effects will occur, causing obesity and swelling, water and sodium retention, decreased immunity, and slow recovery. |
