Endocrine Examination [Introduction] The endocrine system is composed of some pituitary, thyroid, pancreatic islets and other cells. Endocrine glands produce hormones through blood circulation, which have excitatory and inhibitory effects on the human body. This process is called the normal operation of the endocrine system. Endocrine examination is to systematically check whether the endocrine system is functioning normally to avoid nourishing the human central nervous system.

What is endocrine examination? The standard of endocrine examination is to detect whether there are abnormalities in hormones. These hormones mainly include six indicators: luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, progesterone, estrogen and testosterone. Luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone have an important influence on the development of follicles and ovulation. If the test results show high values, amenorrhea or infertility may occur. Prolactin mainly affects the development of the pituitary gland and thyroid gland. Under normal circumstances, the test value should not be too high, otherwise corresponding diseases will occur. When the progesterone level is low, the physiological reaction is irregular menstruation or threatened abortion. Estrogen affects the development of gonads, and values that are too high or too low will have a certain impact on physical condition. Similarly, when the testosterone level is too high, you may suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome or chromosomal abnormalities.

Does endocrine examination require fasting? The method of endocrine examination is to draw venous serum and perform corresponding tests after the sample is collected. However, endocrine examination consists of six items, and it cannot be completed by collecting serum once, but requires repeated collection of samples. For example, the test for luteinizing hormone requires 3 to 4 samples to be drawn within an hour. Because there are six test items, each item has its own specific sample collection requirements. Among them, the prolactin test requires a fasting test, and the serum sampling must be completed around nine in the morning. From this point of view, you need to be on an empty stomach when conducting an endocrine examination. Of course, you can eat something to replenish your energy after the prolactin sampling is completed.

The best time for endocrine examination: Endocrine examination is very common in gynecological examination, so don't have too much psychological burden when going for the examination. The examination process is also very simple. Professional medical staff will draw a certain amount of serum to test whether various indicators are normal. Usually the best time for an endocrine examination is within one week after the end of your menstrual period. Of course, if you can't arrange your time, you can also have an endocrine examination at other times as long as it is not during your menstrual period. However, you must inform the doctor of your menstrual cycle during the examination.
