How to prevent myopia? You should know these methods

If everyone can learn more about the prevention of myopia, they can protect their eyesight well, especially children. Parents should supervise them in time, keep a certain distance from books when studying, ensure adequate sleep, and avoid overusing their eyes.

1. Prevent myopia

Myopia occurs with certain regularity, and attention should be paid to vision care during the pre-onset period, usually including preschool, growth and development, pregnancy, perinatal period and when suffering from certain systemic diseases. Simple myopia has a clear external cause, namely long-term close-range eye use, so reducing visual load is the key to prevention. Through regular monitoring of vision changes and qualitative examination of vision, early detection and identification of prevention targets can be achieved. According to epidemiological surveys, the following subjects are more likely to develop myopia and can be used as key prevention targets:

(1) Having poor eye hygiene habits and working at excessively close distances.

(2) Parents are myopic.

(3) For those whose vision is unstable and has dropped from 1.5 to 1.2 or 1.0 (in fact, they may already have myopia), preventive measures include not using the eyes continuously at close range for too long; actively participating in outdoor activities; and adopting the distant viewing method, or a variety of vision and adjustment-collective training methods, in order to regularly increase the visual distance, broaden the field of vision, relax and adjust, and maintain normal visual function. In normal times, they should ensure adequate sleep, a balance between work and rest, a balanced diet, proper nutrition, a regular life, and maintain physical and mental health. They should pay attention to preventing various abnormal stimuli and risk factors, such as chronic organophosphorus poisoning, and try to avoid the formation of hazy images on the retina, such as early correction of corneal astigmatism. Do not read under oscillation, shaking conditions or at dusk. The lighting requirements should be sufficient and standard, and the light should not be too dark or too strong. The brightness and color tone of the TV screen should be moderate and normal.

2. Prevent the increase of myopia

For all myopia, especially pathological myopia, efforts should be made to prevent the deepening of myopia refraction and maintain or strive to improve visual function. In addition to the above-mentioned methods of preventing myopia, special attention should be paid to rational use of eyes, choosing appropriate work, avoiding excessive use of eyes and adverse visual stimulation, correctly correcting refractive errors, wearing suitable glasses. Pathological myopia requires frequent wearing of glasses, both for near and far vision, and contact lenses can also be worn. Measures that may slow down or stop the development of myopia include fitting glasses (bifocal lenses, gas permeable hard contact lenses), medications and surgery.

3. Prevent complications of myopia

The main cause of blindness in myopia is its complications, such as amblyopia, retinopathy and glaucoma, which need to be prevented. Various methods should be actively and seriously adopted to prevent myopia from getting worse. In addition to requiring patients to pay attention to changes in vision, they should also pay attention to any other abnormal phenomena that appear in the eyes in the early stage, such as flashes, fly (mosquito) disease, visual field defects, progressive or sudden decrease in vision (especially near vision), eye soreness, pain and night blindness. If one eye has complications, the other eye should be specially observed and checked at any time for early detection.
