Reasons for slow growth of babies

Reasons for slow growth of babies

In our country, many babies are born with a disease called slow development. Babies born with slow development will start late. Compared with babies of the same age, other babies may already be able to read and write, but your baby can only hold a pen. This is a manifestation of developmental delay. There are many reasons for baby developmental delay. The following editor will give you a detailed introduction to several of them.

Four major reasons for baby's growth retardation

First, systemic diseases. For example, the baby may have problems with the heart, liver, and kidneys, or chronic diarrhea in infancy, which may lead to poor absorption, malnutrition, and slow overall development.

Second, the feeding frequency is not enough. Some mothers think that it is enough to feed the baby once every three or four hours a day. Some mothers strictly implement timed and quantitative feeding. Because babies like to sleep more, they will appear to be a little unactive and uncooperative when feeding. In fact, a newborn baby needs to be fed 10 to 122 times in 24 hours a day to be enough. Some babies do not need to be fed so frequently. It still depends on the baby's individual situation. Some babies are already breastfeeding more than ten times a day, but their weight gain is still relatively slow. At this time, the mother must take corresponding measures, such as increasing the number of breastfeedings appropriately, or increasing the baby's nutritional intake, so that the baby can absorb more nutrients to achieve the purpose of weight gain and development.

Third, insufficient calorie intake. Some mothers have plenty of milk, but because the baby does not suckle long enough, they do not absorb enough high-calorie, high-fat. Even if the baby has normal bowel movements and develops well, the baby's weight gain is still slow. Some babies fall asleep while feeding. For the former, we should extend the baby's feeding time appropriately to allow the baby to eat enough and be full. As for the latter, when the baby falls asleep, you should wake the baby up and let the baby continue to feed instead of letting the baby continue to sleep.

Fourth, incorrect breastfeeding posture leads to inefficient breastfeeding for the baby. During each feeding, the baby needs to suck the mother's milk. The mother's milk has to flow down so that the baby can suck it. The baby will swallow every time he sucks, and you can hear the baby gurgling. If this does not happen, it means that the baby is not sucking effectively, and the mother needs to readjust to allow the baby to breastfeed better.
