Peripheral nerve damage is a relatively serious disease. There are many reasons that cause peripheral nerve damage. At this time, timely and good treatment is necessary. There are also many treatment methods. For example, physical therapy can promote nerve regeneration and has a certain effect on the recovery of peripheral nerve tissue. In addition, laser treatment is also a common method. Corrective treatment or traditional Chinese medicine treatment, etc. are all relatively common. What to do if peripheral nerves are damaged 1. Physical therapy: Neuromuscular electrical stimulation can promote nerve regeneration and thus promote recovery from peripheral nerve injury. Functional electrical stimulation therapy within one week after peripheral nerve injury, combined with active and passive muscle exercise, can promote axon regeneration and reinnervation of muscles by peripheral nerves [2]. In addition, (1) thermotherapy: early application of shortwave and microwave diathermy (no heat or low heat, 1-2 times a day) can eliminate inflammation, promote edema absorption, and facilitate nerve regeneration. The application of hot compress, wax therapy, infrared irradiation, etc. can improve local blood circulation, relieve pain, loosen adhesions, and promote edema absorption. During treatment, attention should be paid to maintaining an appropriate temperature, as burns are more likely to occur, especially when there is sensory impairment and poor local blood circulation. If the patient loses sensation or there are metal fixtures in the treatment area, pulsed shortwave or pulsed microwave therapy should be selected. (2) Laser therapy: Helium-neon laser (10-20 mW) or semiconductor laser (200-300 mW) is commonly used to irradiate the injured area or select acupuncture points along the nerve. Each area is irradiated for 5-10 minutes. It has the effect of reducing inflammation and promoting nerve regeneration. (3) Hydrotherapy: Warm water baths and whirlpool baths can relieve muscle tension, promote local circulation, and loosen adhesions. Passive and active exercises in water can prevent muscle contractures. The buoyancy of water helps paralyzed muscles to move, and the resistance of water slows down the movement speed in the water, preventing sports injuries. 2. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also used for peripheral nerve injury in clinical practice. 3. Orthotic treatment: Early prevention of contracture deformity. 4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment:(1) Acupuncture treatment: Acupuncture points are selected along the meridians to relieve pain, activate blood circulation, and promote blood circulation. (2) Massage therapy: Based on the principles of removing blood stasis and swelling, and promoting blood circulation and activating collaterals, the main functions of massage are to improve blood circulation, prevent soft tissue adhesion, and delay muscle atrophy. However, the technique should be gentle. Strong massage is often harmful to flaccid muscles, and long-term massage also has the risk of aggravating muscle atrophy. Acupoints are selected with reference to acupuncture points, and manipulations include rolling, pressing, kneading, rubbing, and rubbing. (3) Other treatments: electroacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, etc. |
