How to use a home enema

Now some medical devices have entered households, such as household enema devices. People who often suffer from constipation can use this enema for treatment, but they should understand that frequent use can cause great harm to their health. In addition, because the patients themselves lack medical knowledge, improper operation can easily cause intestinal scratches, which is quite harmful. Therefore, as an individual, it is best not to use this enema device.

How to use a home enema

1. The patient lies on his side, with his pants pulled down to his knees, his legs bent, and oilcloth and toilet paper placed under his buttocks.

2. Pour 500-800ml of enema liquid at about 38° into the enema device and hang it at a height of 60cm from the buttocks. Expel the air inside and clamp the switch.

3. Lubricate the anal tube at the bottom of the enema with paraffin oil (ordinary vegetable oil can also be used).

4. Use your left hand to separate the gluteal fissure and your right hand to insert the anal cannula 7-10 cm into the anus.

5. Turn on the switch. The enema liquid can be seen flowing slowly into the intestine. If the flow of fluid is blocked, the anal canal can be rotated or squeezed to dislodge the fecal mass blocking the anal canal opening.

6. After the injection, pull out the rectal tube and wait for 5-10 minutes before defecation. Enema does not require other auxiliary medicines.

The dangers of long-term enema

1. Destroy normal flora

Our human intestines are already very fragile. If we perform enema for a long time, it will damage the normal flora in the intestines, the so-called good guys.

2. Cause intestinal damage

If the enema is performed improperly, the intestines of our body will be damaged, and gastric perforation is one of the more serious situations. During the douching process, the urethra and vagina may be contaminated by flushed feces.

3. Cause anal relaxation

Long-term enema may also cause us to be unable to hold urine in our lives, because frequent enemas will actually cause our anus and the muscles around the anus to become loose.
