Heartburn chest pain eating

Heartburn is a symptom that everyone is familiar with. Many times, if we eat some spicy food on an empty stomach, we will experience heartburn. When we have heartburn, in severe cases we may also experience a lot of pain in the chest. So, do you know what causes heartburn? In fact, many people don’t know what causes heartburn. Today we will give you some relevant knowledge.

Where exactly is heartburn burning?

In fact, "heartburn" is a manifestation of a digestive tract disease. The burning sensation felt by the patient actually comes from the stomach and esophagus. It is mostly caused by excessive gastric acid irritating the gastric mucosa and is usually associated with spasm of the lower esophagus or gastric cardia. Simply put, it is the discomfort caused by the contents of the stomach mixed with gastric acid flowing back into the esophagus.

What causes heartburn?

There are many reasons that can cause heartburn, including eating too much or too fast. Heartburn may also occur after eating certain foods, such as alcohol, peppers, sweets, and acidic foods. It may also be caused by mental stress and induce heartburn. Some diseases may also cause "heartburn", such as acute and chronic gastritis, bile reflux gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric cancer, reflux esophagitis, etc. So don't ignore heartburn just because you think it's a minor problem. We still need to take it seriously and respond proactively. In daily life, we can relieve stomach discomfort by changing our lifestyle and using some simple dietary therapy methods.

How to avoid heartburn

1. Don’t overeat

People who are prone to heartburn may have insufficient digestive ability. When the food they eat is not completely digested, the stomach contents overflow and cause heartburn. Therefore, you should be careful not to eat too much at each meal, and stick to the principle of eating small and frequent meals.

2. Reduce irritating foods

If you are prone to heartburn and it happens relatively frequently, you should reduce the intake of acidic and other irritating foods in your diet. It is best to quit irritating or indigestible foods such as coffee, potato chips, and sugar. Eating more alkaline foods can help neutralize stomach acid and reduce heartburn.

3. Pay attention to exercise after meals

Some people like to go running after a big meal, while some people like to lie on the sofa like Ge You after a meal. In fact, both of these methods are unhealthy. It is not advisable to do strenuous exercise or lie down immediately after a meal, as this may induce adverse symptoms such as acid reflux and heartburn. You can exercise or rest 15-30 minutes after eating. If the abdomen is compressed, gastric acid can easily flow back out of the stomach, causing heartburn.

At the same time, you should also reduce the pressure on your abdomen. It is recommended that you do not wear clothes that are too tight or corseted, do not lie down immediately after a meal, and do not sleep in a prone position to avoid pressure on the abdomen and induce heartburn.

4. Drink some water

When stomach acid occurs, you might as well drink a glass of warm water in time, which can act as a "harmonizer" and is very good for reducing the concentration of stomach acid. However, you should drink the water slowly and don't drink too much.

Occasionally, you can drink baking soda water to help neutralize stomach acid, but if you often have heartburn, it is best not to drink baking soda, otherwise it will cause side effects such as bloating and nausea.

People with excessive stomach acid can also grind cuttlefish bones and drink them, because the calcium carbonate it contains can neutralize stomach acid, thus relieving heartburn and stomach burning sensations.
