Summer Health Tips

The weather in summer is relatively hot, which makes it easy for people with poor physical fitness to develop some diseases, which can easily cause adverse effects on health. For ordinary people, in summer, they must develop good living habits, pay attention to diet and daily life, eat lighter food, and eat more bitter vegetables, which have a good nourishing effect on the body. In addition, they must replenish water, minerals and vitamins in time.

Summer Health Tips

1. Live according to the seasons

In summer, it is better to go to bed late and get up early, and take a nap at noon as much as possible. Remember not to sit, lie down or sleep for a long time in the shade of corridors, eaves or vents. It is even more inadvisable to use electric fans for a long time, because the summer heat evaporates outside, sweat is secreted, pores are wide open, and they are susceptible to wind and cold. Using electric fans for too long may cause headaches, lumbar muscle strain, facial paralysis or muscle soreness, etc.

2. Eat a clean and nourishing diet, and eat more bitter food

In terms of dietary nourishment, the principles in hot weather are to clear and nourish, strengthen the spleen, and dispel heat and dampness. It is not advisable to eat fatty, sweet, greasy, or hot foods. Instead, you should choose foods that are light and nourishing.

3. Precautions for skin itching

When traveling in the summer, if your skin becomes itchy, dry and painful due to sun exposure, you can apply a small amount of ointment such as Fu Qing Song. Do not wash with hot water or alkaline soap to avoid irritating the skin and aggravating the symptoms.

4. Supplement salt, potassium and vitamins

People sweat a lot in the summer, and more potassium ions are lost with sweat. The resulting hypokalemia can cause symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, headache, and loss of appetite. The most effective way to prevent potassium deficiency in hot weather is to eat more potassium-containing foods. Fresh vegetables and fruits contain more potassium. You can eat more strawberries, apricots, lychees, peaches, plums, etc.; vegetables such as onions, celery, edamame, etc. are also rich in potassium. Tea also contains a lot of potassium. Drinking more tea on hot days can not only relieve heat but also replenish potassium, which is killing two birds with one stone.
