What does long and clear urine mean?

Many times, if we go to the hospital to check our urine, we will hear the doctor talk about the professional term "clear and long urine". Many people actually don’t know what clear and long urination means. In fact, clear and long urination is a disease. If you have long, clear urination, you should seek timely treatment. Many people actually don’t know what the symptoms of clear and long urination are. Today we will talk about what clear and long urination means.

Clear and long urine means that the urine is clear in color and the amount of urine is large. It means that the frequency and amount of urination increase, and the urine is clear and thin, without any obvious foul odor.

1. Oliguria

Urine volume of less than 400-500 ml per day is a sign of serious illness. There are three specific types of oliguria:

1. The kidneys suffer from serious diseases, such as acute nephritis, kidney tumors, severe renal tuberculosis, renal failure, etc. Impaired kidney function, resulting in decreased urine output;

2. In cases of severe dehydration, heart failure, etc., the blood flow to the kidneys is significantly reduced, causing renal failure and oliguria;

3. Urinary tract obstruction: blockage of ureters, kidney stones, blood clots, etc., which prevents the generated urine from entering the bladder.

★Recommendation: Check in time to prevent the development of serious consequences such as uremia and heart failure.

2. Hematuria

Hematuria means blood in urine, and the amount of blood in urine is large. There are many causes, mainly caused by urinary system diseases, among which nephritis, renal tuberculosis, prostatic hyperplasia, urinary tract infection, urinary tract stones and urinary tract tumors are the most common. Other diseases such as coagulation disorders and certain systemic diseases, such as leukemia and aplastic anemia, can also cause hematuria.

Watch for other symptoms that accompany hematuria. For example, hematuria accompanied by long-term frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating is more likely to be caused by renal tuberculosis; hematuria accompanied by symptoms such as eye, facial or whole body edema, increased blood pressure and fever may be caused by acute nephritis; hematuria in people over 50 years old with no obvious symptoms and no pain is mostly caused by tumor erosion of the ureter causing rupture and bleeding.

★Recommendation: Go to a urologist for examination as soon as possible. Pay attention to rest. Those with heavy bleeding should rest in bed. Drink more water and eat more foods that have the effect of cooling blood and stopping bleeding, such as lotus root, amaranth, lotus seeds, etc. Avoid spicy, fried, seafood, mutton and other foods.

3. Difficulty urinating

Dysuria is a common symptom of prostate enlargement in older men. Due to prostate hyperplasia, the urethra is compressed, causing difficulty in urination, and eventually the urethra is blocked, causing urine retention and causing great pain.

To effectively prevent the progression of the disease, attention should be paid to the early symptoms of prostate enlargement - frequent urination, especially increased nocturia; difficulty urinating, and a very thin urine stream that sprays outward for a short distance or is interrupted; hematuria and hypersexuality.

★Recommendation: Seek early diagnosis and treatment, avoid drinking alcohol and eating irritating foods, prevent colds, and reduce sexual intercourse to avoid worsening of the condition.

4. Frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating

Urinary tract infections are quite common and include urethritis, cystitis, and pyelonephritis. Symptoms include bladder irritation such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating, and in severe cases, hematuria. The cause of the disease is mainly related to bacterial infection, which is more common in women and female babies because the female urethra is short and wide and close to the vagina.

★Suggestions: Pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva, do not hold urine, drink plenty of water, urinate every two to three hours, and urinate immediately after sex to prevent bacterial ascending infection. Women should pay more attention to vulvar hygiene during menstruation, pregnancy and postpartum period. People with acute urinary tract infection should refrain from sexual intercourse and should not wear tight pants. Eat a light diet, quit smoking and drinking, and eat more fresh fruits, vegetables and beans.

5. Frequent urination at night

Nocturia refers to an increase in the frequency and volume of urination at night.

Excluding factors such as consuming large amounts of water or fruit before going to bed, urethral stones, prostate hyperplasia in men, pregnancy in women, inflammatory stimulation and neurogenic frequent urination, frequent urination at night is mostly due to kidney deficiency and aging, which is common in the elderly. Nocturia usually refers to waking up five or six times a night, and sometimes more than ten times.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that with age, the essence of the kidneys gradually declines, and the water-controlling function becomes disordered, affecting the production and excretion of urine, resulting in symptoms such as frequent urination at night, weak urination, and residual urine after urination. There are also middle-aged and young people who may experience abnormal urination due to physical weakness, excessive sexual intercourse or long-term illness that damages the kidneys.

★Suggestion: Do not drink too much water before going to bed. If the condition is serious and health care is ineffective, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
