Polio treatment, medication is the key

Polio treatment, medication is the key

Polio is very widespread. Now, babies who are newly born will be given polio vaccine to better prevent this disease. The common treatment for polio is stem cell therapy. Parents should also pay attention to daily diet and health care.

1. Medication treatment

Before stem cell treatment: The patient developed high fever, inability to stand, and incontinence after taking routine oral polio vaccine at the age of 3. He was later diagnosed with "acute disseminated encephalomyelitis" with a history of 1 month. Conventional drug treatment (neurotrophic factors, immunoglobulin) was ineffective.

After stem cell treatment: After three stem cell treatments, the patient could walk for 2-3 minutes with the help of his family members, and his muscle tension was significantly reduced. During this period, combined with the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, it also helped the patient's urination and defecation to a certain extent. The family members were very satisfied.

2. Diet and Health Care

The patient's diet should be given according to the doctor's instructions. The diet should be started with soft and thin food and then other foods can be added after the body gradually adapts to it. You should be careful not to eat too much oil, and you should properly combine sugar, fat, protein, minerals, vitamins and other foods.

Patients should choose high-protein, high-vitamin and easily digestible foods, and through reasonable nutritional matching and proper cooking, try to improve the patient's appetite so that the nutrition and energy in the patient's diet can meet the body's needs.

Patients should not take foods that are detrimental to their condition and highly irritating foods, such as chili peppers, especially those in the acute phase and those with yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire.

3. Pathological causes

The pathogen of poliomyelitis is a filterable virus whose diameter is 8 to 17 μm under an electron microscope. It is called polio virus. This virus is divided into three different types: I, II, and III. Type I is the most common, followed by type III, and type II is rare.

In addition to poliovirus, certain other viruses, such as individual enteroviruses, including coxsackie virus and echo virus, can also cause damage to the central nervous system and cause paralytic poliomyelitis, which is clinically difficult to distinguish from paralysis caused by poliovirus.

The polio virus is very resilient and cold-resistant. It can survive for several months in frozen conditions and is also highly resistant to dryness. The virus can survive for several days at room temperature; for weeks to months in sewage; for more than a hundred days in water and milk; and for 3 to 6 weeks or longer in feces. Ultraviolet radiation, boiling, or the use of chlorine-containing lime (bleaching powder) and potassium permanganate can quickly kill it.

The source of infection is patients with paralytic and non-paralytic forms of the disease. Latently infected people and healthy virus carriers can also spread the disease. The virus is mainly excreted from feces and nasopharyngeal secretions. Its main transmission routes are directly through the digestive tract through contaminated food, dirty hands and various utensils, or through the respiratory tract through air droplets.
