The prescription is a modified version of Guipi Decoction, which uses Codonopsis pilosula, Astragalus membranaceus, Atractylodes macrocephala, White Peony Root, Angelica sinensis, Poria, Ziziphus jujuba seed, Amomum villosum, Fuluogan, Radix Sanguisorbae, Sophora japonica flower, and Licorice root, etc. Liver fire attacks the stomach: It is caused by anger damaging the liver, poor qi discharge, stagnation of qi movement, which turns into fire over time, attacks the stomach qi, and fails to harmonize and descend. Symptoms include vomiting bright red or brown blood, tarry stools, belching and nausea, abdominal distension and fullness, and irritability. The tongue is red, with little coating, and the pulse is stringy and rapid. The treatment is to clear the liver and reduce fire, harmonize the stomach and stop bleeding. The prescription is a modified version of Chaihu Shugan Powder, which uses bupleurum, white peony root, fructus aurantii, tangerine peel, cyperus rotundus, toosendan fruit, curcuma, scutellaria baicalensis, gardenia, toosendan fruit, gentian, evodia rutaecarpa, herbaceous agrimony, and liquorice, etc. Blood stasis blocking the collaterals: Due to long-term stomach pain, repeated attacks, unfavorable Qi movement, damage to the stomach collaterals, blood stasis and obstruction, the disease occurs. Symptoms include stomach pain that is resistant to pressure, pain that does not move, like a needle prick, especially at night, or pain that spreads to the chest and back, vomiting blood and bloody stools. The tongue is dark purple or has ecchymosis, and the pulse is stringy and astringent. The treatment is suitable for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, regulating qi and relieving pain. The prescription is Jinlingzi Powder with added ingredients, including Toosendan fruit, Corydalis yanhusuo, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Aconiti lobata, raw Pollen Typha, red peony root, Magnolia officinalis, Citron, processed myrrh, processed frankincense, licorice, etc. Heat damages the stomach network: due to overeating of fatty and sweet foods, preference for spicy food, which damages the spleen and stomach, causing dysfunction of transportation and transformation, stagnation of water and dampness, which turns into heat over time. Symptoms include abdominal distension, nosebleed and hematemesis, high fever and sweating, thirst, dark and dry stools, and yellow and red urine. The tongue is crimson, the tongue coating is yellow and dry, and the pulse is strong and rapid. The treatment should be to clear away heat and purge fire, cool blood and stop bleeding. The prescription is a modification of Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction, which uses medicinal ingredients such as Scutellaria baicalensis, Coptis chinensis, Rhubarb, Red Peony Root, Cortex Moutan, Gypsum, Anemarrhena asphodeloides, Rehmannia glutinosa, Platycladus orientalis charcoal, Cirsium sibiricum charcoal, and Licorice.
