Can color Doppler ultrasound of a 6-month-old baby tell the gender?

Can color Doppler ultrasound of a 6-month-old baby tell the gender?

When the pregnancy is six months, a color ultrasound examination can be performed to observe the baby's gender, but the doctor will not tell the parents because according to relevant laws in our country, gender identification is an illegal act. In addition to being able to identify gender, color ultrasound can also play a good role in observing the child's health condition. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Can color Doppler ultrasound of a 6-month-old baby tell the gender?

If the baby is facing everyone during the four-dimensional color ultrasound, the baby's gender can be seen, but if the baby is facing away, then it cannot be seen. Most hospitals will not tell parents the gender of the fetus. Unless you have a familiar doctor, you will not be able to know.

Four-dimensional color ultrasound can intuitively and stereoscopically display the three-dimensional structure of human organs and observe the three-dimensional structure dynamically and in real time. In obstetrics and gynecology, four-dimensional color ultrasound can perform ultrasound examinations on the fetus and can stereoscopically display the color, face, and development of various organs of the fetus. In addition, it can also examine the tiny internal organs of the fetus one by one, and can detect malformations of the reproductive system, nervous system, urinary system, etc.

For this reason, many pregnant mothers want to know the gender of their baby through such a magical function as four-dimensional color ultrasound. Due to the high resolution of four-dimensional color ultrasound, the characteristics of the fetus's external reproductive organs can also be seen at a glance. You can see a clear four-dimensional color ultrasound picture of the baby. After many expectant parents have done four-dimensional color ultrasound, they will habitually ask experts whether the baby is a boy or a girl. Although four-dimensional color ultrasound can help determine the gender of the fetus, during the examination, the doctor will avoid the characteristics of the fetus's lower body and will not disclose the gender of the fetus.

Four-dimensional color ultrasound can be performed at any gestational week, but it should be emphasized that there is currently controversy about doing four-dimensional color ultrasound in early pregnancy (before 12 weeks of pregnancy). For safety reasons, it is recommended to do fetal four-dimensional color ultrasound after 16 weeks of pregnancy.

After 16 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus's limbs and major organs have fully developed. The best time to check is between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy, and the amount of amniotic fluid is more suitable for fetal malformation screening.

The difference between color ultrasound and B-ultrasound

1. Color ultrasound is simply a high-definition black and white B-ultrasound plus a color Doppler. It has the advantages of two-dimensional ultrasound structural images and provides rich information on hemodynamics. It can be understood this way: the range of color ultrasound is larger than that of black and white B-ultrasound. Ordinary B-ultrasound is like a black and white photo; two-dimensional color ultrasound is not a color photo. The left picture generally shows the condition of the uterus in black and white, and the fetal image on the right will have red and blue to show blood vessel information; three-dimensional color ultrasound looks khaki; and four-dimensional B-ultrasound is a VCR taken by a camera.

2. B-ultrasound is a medical examination item that patients often encounter when they seek medical treatment. In clinical practice, color ultrasound is widely used in the diagnosis of cardiology, gastroenterology, urology, and obstetrics and gynecology diseases.

3. Generally speaking , color ultrasound has a greater impact on the fetus than black and white B-ultrasound. Doctors generally do not recommend color ultrasound for pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy. However, in the early stages of pregnancy, pregnant women can do a black and white B-ultrasound to confirm the fetal pregnancy status, and only in the second trimester can a color ultrasound be done to rule out fetal abnormalities or record fetal activities.
