Do benign hemangiomas require surgery?

Do benign hemangiomas require surgery?

Many people would feel very scared if they heard that they had a tumor on their body, because many people believe that a tumor will definitely turn into cancer. In fact, this is not the case, because tumors can also be divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors, and most benign tumors do not require surgical treatment. Hemangioma is a very common tumor in everyone. So does benign hemangioma require surgery?

In fact, in most cases, benign hemangiomas do not require surgery, but if the following three conditions occur, surgery is necessary.

First, hemangioma is most afraid of bleeding. If there is a tendency for bleeding, everyone must take surgical measures to remove it if a hemangioma is found during a physical examination. If the doctor assesses that the risk of bleeding is not high, then we can observe. If the risk of bleeding is high, then timely surgical treatment is required. However, there are certain risks during the operation, so everyone should try to remove it as thoroughly as possible during the operation.

Second, hemangiomas larger than 3 cm also require surgical removal. The larger the hemangioma, the greater the risk of bleeding. For large hemangiomas, in addition to the possibility of bleeding, they may also cause compression to the location. Many people experience a bloating sensation when standing or walking. Some patients may experience thinning of the skin due to local nutritional disorders and may even suffer from ulcerative bleeding.

Third, most of the hemangiomas that grow rapidly in a short period of time do not grow very fast, but there are a small number of hemangiomas that will grow rapidly in a short period of time with the development of time. This type of hemangioma actually also requires surgical measures.

Don't be too nervous if you have hemangioma, because it is benign in nature and will not become malignant. If it is small and there is no possibility of bleeding, we only need to do dynamic observation. If it is very large and there is a possibility of bleeding at any time or bleeding has already occurred, then we still have to take surgical measures immediately.
