Basically everyone hopes to be healthy and not get seriously ill. Because most serious illnesses have a great impact on everyone's physical health and may even require surgery to treat. Among the middle-aged and elderly, there is a common tumor called parathyroid tumor. The cause of this tumor is very complicated, and there are many symptoms in the human body. So is parathyroid tumor a serious disease? This disease is definitely a serious illness, and in severe cases it may be life-threatening, so everyone still needs to pay attention to it. Although there is hope that thyroid tumors can be cured, if they are not treated in time, they will also affect human life. Therefore, no matter what kind of disease you are facing, you must take good care of it. Parathyroid adenomas are benign tumors composed of chief cells, oncocytes, transitional oncocytes, or a mixture. It is more common in middle-aged and elderly people, and more common in women than in men. Adenomas can be functional or nonfunctional, and a decrease in parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels occurs immediately after removal of a functional adenoma. This disease is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. Causes This disease is mainly caused by excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and is divided into three main types according to different cells. 1. Chief cell adenoma There are two types of parathyroid chief cells. One type is bright cells, which are more numerous, rich in glycogen, have dark and larger nuclei, and clear cytoplasm. One type is dark cells, which have a smaller and darker nucleus, less glycogen, and many secretory granules. 2. Oncocytoma The nucleus of this cell is small and dense, and the cytoplasm is granular. The granules are similar in size, generally larger, and do not contain glycogen. 3. Clear cell adenoma This type of adenoma appears after puberty. The cells are large and polygonal, with vacuoles in the cytoplasm. Clinical manifestations 1. Systemic manifestations (1) Nervous system: Patients in the early stages of the disease with mild symptoms may experience depression and anxiety. Severe symptoms may cause mental disorders. In addition, patients may also experience pain, retrograde amnesia, drowsiness, loss of smell, etc. (2) Muscular system: Patients often experience fatigue, slow tendon reflexes, thigh muscle weakness, myalgia, etc. (3) Joint and soft tissue diseases: 20-30% of patients with this disease are accompanied by chondrocalcification, which is prone to pseudogout, arthralgia, calcific tendinitis, etc. (4) Skeletal system: bone pain, osteoporosis, bone deformity, pathological fractures, etc. 2. Local manifestations Some patients may experience symptoms such as local irritation and pain, hoarseness, and mild swallowing difficulty. treat In principle, surgical resection should be performed. Patients with contraindications to surgery can undergo superselective arterial injection ablation or ultrasound-guided ethanol injection ablation. |
