The role of magnesium hydroxide

The role of magnesium hydroxide

Magnesium hydroxide is colorless, non-toxic, odorless, and non-corrosive. It is a green and environmentally friendly polymer material additive. The role of magnesium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide with good flake or fibrous crystal shape can better match the raw materials without affecting the physical properties such as raw material strength, greatly improve the bending strength and elongation of polymer materials, another use is that it can be used as a neutralizer, alkaline magnesium hydroxide and good adsorption properties. It can be used as a neutralizer for the treatment of acidic waste gas, wastewater treatment, heavy metals and organic waste liquids. With the improvement of environmental protection requirements, domestic demand has increased rapidly.

The efficacy and function of magnesium hydroxide

①First of all, magnesium hydroxide is widely used in environmental protection, because magnesium hydroxide can be used as a neutralizer. It is alkaline, and because of its good adsorption, it can be used to treat acid-containing wastes, as well as some wastewater treatment. Magnesium hydroxide can be used to treat wastewater containing heavy metals and organic matter. This is one of its functions.

② Secondly, magnesium hydroxide is also used to prevent combustion. It is a flame retardant. Because the thermal decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is high, the initial temperature is about 340 degrees Celsius to 490 degrees Celsius. It can be completely decomposed during this period. Because the decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is high and the range is wide, it is higher than other inorganic flame retardants, so it has a good flame retardant effect.

③Finally, magnesium hydroxide is also widely used in the chemical industry, mainly in paints, coatings, refractory bricks, magnetic materials, ceramics, and as additives or fillers, because magnesium hydroxide can increase wear resistance, lower the melting point, and make the metal lattice more dense.

④First aid measures

Inhalation: If inhaled, move victim to fresh air.

Skin contact: Take off contaminated clothing and rinse skin thoroughly with soap and water. If you feel unwell, seek medical attention.

Eye contact: Open the eyelids and rinse with running water or saline. Get medical attention immediately.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth, do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.

Advice for protection of rescuers: Remove the victim to a safe place. Consult a doctor. Show this Material Safety Data Sheet to the doctor who arrives at the scene.
