Why is the skin on my calves shiny?

Many people pay special attention to their skin condition, especially for female friends, having good skin is their dream. Therefore, female friends should observe their skin condition every day. For normal people, their calf skin is dull, but some people find that their calf skin is starting to shine. So what is the reason for shiny calf skin?

1. Why is the skin on the calf shiny?

Shiny, shiny skin on the calves indicates that the skin is hydrated; this can occur in both normal and diseased conditions. If it is seen on normal skin, it means that the skin is good and shiny. It is more common in women and is a sign of youth. If this happens suddenly on the skin, it indicates swelling. The cause is quite complicated and may be due to overwork, foot disease, or heart disease. It is recommended to go to the hospital to check heart and kidney function.

2. Causes of calf edema

Calf edema refers to the accumulation of excessive fluid in the interstitial spaces outside the blood vessels of the calf. The edematous tissue increases in size and becomes pale in color. Under the microscope, edema fluid can be seen accumulating between cells and fibrous connective tissue or in the spaces between the cells or in a cavitary manner. Common calf edema can be divided into four main types, including the flabby type caused by lack of exercise and poor muscle endurance, the elephant leg type with leg fat hypertrophy and easy sweating, the carrot leg type with well-developed calf gastrocnemius and a tense personality, and the calf edema caused by lack of curves and insufficient energy.

3. How to eliminate leg edema

Method 1: Massage the soles of your feet

First, we apply massage oil or lotion on the right foot or right ankle, and then use the tip of the thumb to slide down from the arch of the right foot to the heel, about ten times. Secondly, we can use the tip of our thumb to press the gaps between the toes, pressing each gap about three times. Finally, as shown in the picture, we can also use the raised knuckles of our fist to slide the instep, and then slide from the base of the ankle to the toes three to five times.

Method 2: Ankle massage

Use the tip of your thumb to slide down along the raised bone from the inside of the ankle about three times, then repeat with the other foot.
