What causes stiffness and pain in the lumbar spine?

We all know that cervical stiffness and pain prevent many people from living a normal life, and doctors do not have a perfect solution for this. Cervical stiffness and pain are caused by not paying attention to spinal health, and lifestyle and eating habits should be taken seriously. Cervical stiffness and pain cause anxiety in life and cause great trouble to spinal stability. In order to avoid cervical stiffness and pain, relevant personnel can go to the orthopedic department and ask the doctor for comprehensive treatment. So, what causes lumbar stiffness and pain?

1. Lumbar muscle stiffness is a common phenomenon in patients with lumbar disc herniation in the later stages. This is especially true for patients with more serious conditions or longer illness courses. After lumbar disc herniation, due to the imbalance of the body's intrinsic balance and pain response, the psoas muscle undergoes protective spasm and the lumbar muscles become tense, leading to lumbar scoliosis deformity, and the psoas muscle is in a state of small balance and stretch. If this state persists for a long time, muscle fiber tissue will be damaged to a certain extent. The elasticity decreases, the muscle fiber tissue thickens and becomes stiff.

2. Muscle stiffness can cause physiological dysfunction and affect the external maintenance of the lumbar vertebral joints. At the same time, symptoms such as stiffness and weakness in waist movements, waist pain, and inability to work for a long time may occur. Range of motion of the waist: The degree of limitation of the range of motion of the waist varies greatly depending on whether it is in the acute stage, the length of the disease course and other factors. In mild cases, the condition may be almost normal, but in acute attacks, the waist movement may be completely restricted, and the patient may even refuse to test the waist movement. In general cases, the main symptoms are limitation of lumbar flexion, rotation and lateral movement; in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis, extension is also affected.

3. The patient should lie flat when sleeping and put a pillow under the knees. He should be careful not to bend over suddenly to lift heavy objects. When lifting heavy objects, squat down first, pick up the heavy objects and then stand up slowly. Change bad working postures, avoid bending over for a long time and excessive weight bearing, so as not to accelerate the degeneration of the intervertebral disc; sleep on a hard bed; pay attention to keeping the lumbar spine warm. Keep the back and waist in a straight line to avoid twisting.

Through the above introduction, everyone should know why lumbar disc herniation causes symptoms of back stiffness. I hope that patients with this disease must pay attention to combining work and rest, and proper exercise can not only relieve symptoms but also improve the body's immunity.
