What to do if you have syringoma

What to do if you have syringoma

Although syringoma is a type of tumor, it is generally benign and there are no cases of it transforming into a malignant tumor.

The main cause of this disease is that there is a problem with the human body's metabolic pipeline, which prevents the body from excreting sweat normally, causing it to become blocked in the body, and over time, it forms a syringoma. Although this disease does not have more serious consequences for the time being, it does not mean that everyone does not need to pay attention to precautions in this regard, otherwise it is likely to cause the condition to worsen.

Syringoma, also known as syringocystoma or syringocystic adenoma, is an adenoma of the small sweat gland duct in the epidermis. Syringoma is a benign tumor that has no impact on human health, and no cases of it transforming into malignant tumors (cancer) have been found so far. Most syringoma patients are women (there are also some men), and the rash often increases during pregnancy, before menstruation, or when using female hormones. Some patients have a family history and the disease is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner.

Clinical manifestations: It is more common in females and occurs during adolescence. Multiple lesions are seen on the face, especially the eyelids, neck, and chest. A small number of patients have eruptive rashes, with extensive symmetrical rashes on the chest, abdomen, and limbs in addition to the face. The disease is usually distributed symmetrically, and a few patients have a family history. Flat papules with a diameter of 1 to 5 mm, protruding from the skin, are similar to millet grains, and have a color close to normal skin color with a slightly waxy luster. Some may change from light yellow to dark brown. Most are multiple, sometimes numbering hundreds.

There are no discomfort symptoms such as itching, pain, redness and swelling, and generally there are no subjective symptoms, but some patients also have itching or burning sensation due to difficulty sweating in summer.

There are three types of syringomas:

A. Eyelid type: The most common type, mostly occurring in women, appears during development or thereafter, and is more common on the lower eyelid.

B. Eruptive type: more common in male adolescents, occurring in batches on the front of the trunk and the flexor side of the upper arm.

C. Localized type: located on the vulva, called genital syringoma, on the extension surface of the fingers is called acral syringoma.

Causes

It is believed that syringoma is a nevus-like tumor of the sweat gland ducts of the human epidermis caused by fat metabolism disorders, and is related to endocrine, pregnancy, menstruation and family inheritance factors. Microscopically, the symptoms were that many ducts were seen in the upper part of the dermis, embedded in a fibrous matrix, lined with two layers of epithelial cells, and the lumen contained amorphous debris. Some ducts are composed of small epithelial cell cords with a comma- or tadpole-like appearance.

treat

Syringoma is a benign tumor that generally does not worsen and does not require treatment. However, from a cosmetic point of view, it can be treated with local excision and medication, but the results are generally not ideal. In addition, if the treatment depth is controlled well, skin grinding, laser, and multi-functional electronic therapeutic device can be used for treatment without leaving obvious scars and achieve better results.
