Intrathyroid hemorrhage

Intrathyroid hemorrhage

The thyroid gland is an important endocrine organ in the human body, which is mainly located below the throat. If the thyroid gland proliferates, it can easily cause a cyst. At this time, people must carefully observe whether there is any foreign object under their throat, as it is very likely that a thyroid cyst has occurred. And some patients with severe thyroid cysts may also experience bleeding in the thyroid cyst. What should we do?

1. Symptoms of thyroid cyst

The initial symptoms of thyroid cysts are not obvious or there are no symptoms. In the later stage, thyroid cysts become larger or compress the trachea and cause bleeding in the cyst, accompanied by other symptoms such as shortness of breath and difficulty swallowing, sore throat and hoarseness.

Thyroid cysts have no symptoms in the early stages, so they are easily overlooked. Only through thyroid ultrasound examination can it be confirmed that you have a thyroid cyst. Patients with symptoms of hyperthyroidism all have symptoms of thyroid cysts, including significant pain and decreased thyroid function as well as physical weakness and edema.

2. Treatment of thyroid cyst

Currently, there are two ways to treat thyroid cysts: drug treatment and surgical treatment.

1) Drug treatment

The course of drug treatment is long and takes 2-5 years. Especially once drug treatment is stopped, thyroid cysts are more likely to recur.

2) Surgery

The only effective treatment for thyroid cysts is surgery, but surgery may also lead to postoperative complications, such as shortness of breath, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, and lifelong hypothyroidism.

To sum up, thyroid cyst is a fluid-filled cystic mass in the thyroid gland, which may occasionally cause mild pain or no pain, without obvious symptoms, and may be accompanied by bleeding problems in the later stages. Currently, surgery and drug therapy are the main treatment methods. Drug therapy can only control and relieve the symptoms. Improper surgical operation may cause complications, such as hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, and lifelong hypothyroidism. The specific treatment method to be chosen should be considered based on your own condition and doctor's advice.
