Diet for people with diabetes

Diet for people with diabetes

It is best for diabetics to eat less foods with high sugar content. In this way, patients need to reduce the amount of food they eat. Secondly, some strict systems should be established in the diet of diabetics, because many of the foods they eat do not contain sugar. Therefore, family and friends around them should strictly supervise the three meals a day of diabetic patients. Prevent diabetic patients from eating randomly or eating the wrong things. This caused his condition to become increasingly serious.

Another thing that diabetics should pay attention to in their diet is that they can eat some sugary fruits and crude fiber foods together. This can effectively avoid hunger and minimize the harm of sugar entering our body to the pancreas. The rate at which blood sugar rises in our body will naturally be slower.

Dietary principles for diabetics

Diet therapy is the basis for the treatment of all types of diabetes and one of the most fundamental treatments for diabetes. Regardless of the type of diabetes, the severity of the disease, the presence or absence of complications, or whether it is treated with insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs, dietary control should be strictly implemented and maintained for a long time. For obese patients with type 2 diabetes or young and elderly patients, diet therapy can be used as the main treatment method, and appropriate combination with oral hypoglycemic drugs can effectively control the disease.

For type 1 diabetes and severe cases, in addition to treatment with insulin and other drugs, active diet control should be carried out to effectively control blood sugar and prevent the disease from worsening. Therefore, diet therapy is the basic treatment for diabetes and must be strictly followed.

1. Foods that diabetics should not eat include:

1. Foods with high sugar content: white sugar, brown sugar, rock sugar, glucose, maltose, honey, chocolate, toffee, fruit candy, candied fruit, canned fruit, soda, juice, sweet drinks, jam, ice cream, sweet biscuits, cakes, sweet bread and sugar-made pastries, etc.

2. Foods that easily increase blood lipids: butter, mutton fat, lard, butter, cream, and fatty meat. Special attention should be paid to foods rich in cholesterol. They should not be used or used less to prevent the occurrence of arteriosclerotic heart disease.

3. Do not drink alcohol. Because the alcohol contained in wine does not contain other nutrients and only provides heat energy, each gram of alcohol produces about 7 kilocalories (294 joules) of heat. Long-term drinking is not good for the liver and can easily cause an increase in serum triglycerides. A small number of patients taking sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drugs are prone to reactions such as palpitations, shortness of breath, and red and dry cheeks after drinking. Please note that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach can easily cause hypoglycemia in patients taking insulin, so for the patient's safety it is better not to drink alcohol.

2. Suitable foods: mainly foods that can delay the increase of blood sugar and blood lipids.

1. Soybeans and their products: In addition to being rich in protein, inorganic salts and vitamins, this type of food also contains a large amount of unsaturated fatty acids in soybean oil, which can lower both blood cholesterol and blood triglycerides. The sitosterol it contains also has a lipid-lowering effect.

2. Coarse sugars: such as oatmeal, buckwheat noodles, hot cereals, and cornmeal contain a variety of trace elements, vitamin B and dietary fiber. Experiments have shown that they can delay the increase of blood sugar. You can use corn flour, bean flour, and white flour in a ratio of 2:2:1 to make steamed buns, pancakes, and noodles. If you stop eating them for a long time, it will not only help lower blood sugar and lipids, but also reduce hunger.

Diabetics must be extra careful with their diet. Eating is very particular. They must abide by dietary principles and match their three meals reasonably. In addition, they must eat in accordance with the diet plan formulated by the doctor based on each patient's personal situation, and consult the doctor on how to eat more healthily, which is better for disease control.
