Symptoms of pharyngitis

Symptoms of pharyngitis

There are many types of pharyngitis, such as allergic pharyngitis and follicular pharyngitis. This time we will take a closer look at follicular pharyngitis. Follicular pharyngitis is mainly caused by prolonged mouth breathing, which causes microorganisms and viruses in the air to be adsorbed in the throat and multiply for a long time. Coupled with improper diet, inflammation and other reasons, follicular pharyngitis is caused. What are the specific symptoms of follicular pharyngitis? Let’s learn.

Long-term mouth breathing, chronic tonsillitis, stimulation from tobacco and alcohol, etc. People are prone to chronic pharyngitis due to external factors such as cold and dry climate, air pollution by dust and chemical gases in the working environment, long-term stimulation from tobacco, alcohol and spicy food, and excessive use of the voice due to occupational factors. In addition, long-term irregular lifestyle, fatigue, and mental stress can reduce the body's resistance, making it easy for bacteria and viruses to be repeatedly infected, which can also cause follicular pharyngitis.

Common site of disease: pharynx

Common causes: long-term mouth breathing, chronic tonsillitis, stimulation from tobacco and alcohol

Common symptoms: Usually feel a foreign body sensation, itching, dryness in the throat

symptom:

Usually, there will be a foreign body sensation, itching, dryness, slight pain in the throat, often accompanied by sticky secretions, an irritating cough in the morning, accompanied by nausea and other symptoms.

treat:

Follicular pharyngitis is treated with a microwave multifunctional therapeutic device. The advantage of this treatment method is that it can remove the granular protrusions on the posterior pharyngeal wall at one time, without bleeding or pain, and is easy to operate. Avoid using strong astringents and antibiotics, gargle with compound borax, and use various lozenges. You can also apply medicine on the throat: such as iodine glycerin. Or you can take Chinese herbal medicine for health care, such as Sterculia lychnophora, vine leaves, wild chrysanthemum, etc. Laser is generally suitable for overproliferative lymph follicles.

Dangers of follicular pharyngitis:

Systemic toxic reactions such as the acute pharyngitis may also occur except that the pharyngalgia, generating heat, fear of cold, headache, body aches, poor appetite, and dry stools and xerostomia. If not treated in time or if recurring attacks occur, it may turn into a chronic disease; if the infection spreads upward and affects the ears and nose, it may lead to acute rhinitis, sinusitis, and acute otitis media; if it develops downward, it may invade the larynx, trachea and other lower respiratory tracts, causing acute laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis and pneumonia; if pathogenic bacteria and toxins invade the blood circulation, it may cause systemic complications, such as acute nephritis, sepsis, rheumatism, etc., which are extremely harmful to the body.

Dangers of pharyngitis:

1. Inflammation of the throat causes coughing, wheezing, etc., which in turn leads to many respiratory diseases.

2. Swelling in the throat can make it harder to swallow food. Inflammation or other lesions in the throat stimulate the nerves that control the esophagus, causing diaphragm spasm, and symptoms such as hiccups and a fullness under the heart.

3. There are endocrine organs such as the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, submandibular gland, and parotid gland around the neck and throat. When there is inflammation or other lesions in the neck and throat, it is easy to spread to these endocrine organs through the branches of the lymphatic vessels, causing corresponding endocrine organ lesions, endocrine disorders, and corresponding diseases. For example, upper respiratory tract infection may be complicated by mumps, thyroiditis, etc.

4. Inflammation of the throat can activate the body's immune system to attack invading bacteria and viruses and protect normal tissues. However, because throat irritants vary in strength and duration, these immune responses are sometimes insufficient and sometimes too strong. Insufficiency means low immunity, and excessiveness means enhanced immunity. Whether it is insufficient or excessive, systemic diseases will occur. For example, glomerulonephritis is the result of enhanced immunity to pharyngeal streptococci.

5. The head and torso are connected and supported by the cervical vertebrae and muscles of the neck. The rotation of the head is the most frequent and flexible complex joint. Inflammation of the posterior pharyngeal wall can lead to instability of the cervical vertebrae and cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis may be an important cause of hypertension, hypotension and blood pressure fluctuations. Inflammation of the posterior pharyngeal wall can spread to the soft tissue in the cervical spine area, stimulating the cervical sympathetic ganglia and causing dysfunction of the nerves that control the heart and vertebral arteries, resulting in symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, and insomnia.

6. The foramen rupture emissary vein connects the extracranial pterygoid vein and pharyngeal vein with the intracranial cavernous sinus. The intracranial cavernous sinus is a very important tissue. When chronic inflammation of the pharynx invades the cavernous sinus, it can cause cavernous sinus thrombosis, resulting in symptoms such as fixed eyeball, diplopia, and headache.
