Wilms tumor

Wilms tumor

The early days of a baby's birth mean that all of the body's skills are in the development stage. It is precisely because these stages are in the growth stage that the baby's immune function is not yet fully developed. However, because the immune function is very weak, it gives many bacteria and viruses excellent opportunities to invade. If the mother is careless, it will accelerate the baby's illness. So if your baby is sick, you should see a doctor immediately.

Early detection and early treatment is the most suitable phrase for children in their early childhood. Many people also believe that some major diseases will occur in people's middle and old age, so they are very careless in caring for some diseases. In fact, disease knows no age. 1. Abdominal mass A progressively enlarging abdominal mass is the most common symptom and is often discovered accidentally when dressing or bathing the child. When the lump is small, there are no obvious symptoms, it does not affect the nutrition and health of the child, and it is easy to be ignored. When the tumor is huge, it may cause compression symptoms, such as shortness of breath, loss of appetite, weight loss, and irritability. The lump is located on one side of the hypochondrium in the upper abdomen, with a smooth surface, medium hardness, and no tenderness. It may be slightly active in the early stage. After rapidly increasing in size, it may cross the midline in a few cases.

2. About 1/3 of the children experience abdominal pain, ranging in severity from local discomfort, mild pain to colic and severe pain. If accompanied by fever, abdominal mass, anemia, and hypertension, it often indicates subcapsular bleeding of nephroblastoma. Rarely, acute abdomen occurs secondary to intra-abdominal rupture of the tumor.

3. Hematuria: About 25% of children have microscopic hematuria, and macroscopic hematuria is seen in 10% to 15% of children. The occurrence of hematuria is related to the invasion of the tumor into the renal pelvis and is not a late manifestation of the tumor.

4. Hypertension occurs in about 30% to 63% of cases, which may be caused by renal vascular embolism or renal artery compression and ischemia, resulting in the production of renin. Some authors believe that tumor cells can produce renin, similar to juxtaglomerular cell tumors, and generally return to normal after tumor resection.

5. Metastatic symptoms: Inferior vena cava obstruction above the hepatic vein may cause hepatomegaly and ascites. If it invades the right atrium, it may cause congestive heart failure or heart murmur. Hematogenous metastasis can spread to all parts of the body, with lung metastasis being the most common, and may cause cough, pleural effusion, chest pain, low-grade fever, anemia, and cachexia.

6. Extrarenal Wilms tumor is rare and may be located in the retroperitoneum or inguinal region and may be part of a complex teratoma. Other sites include the posterior mediastinum, pelvis, and sacrococcygeal region.

7. General symptoms include weakness, fatigue, irritability, weight loss, loss of appetite, etc. Fever is also common.

The above statement is about nephroblastoma. If the disease is serious, surgical treatment is required. Nephroblastoma often occurs in childhood. This disease is different from other diseases. Other diseases can be prevented and timely care can be given before the onset of the disease, but there is no special preventive care for nephroblastoma. It can only be detected early and treated early.
