The rusty nail pierced my foot and caused slight bleeding

After being pricked by an iron nail, try to squeeze out all the blood in the wound to reduce the retention of rust in the wound. Then immediately clean the wound with soapy water, rinse it with running tap water, and clean the wound with a skin disinfectant such as iodine or alcohol. After such a rough treatment, go to the hospital within 24 hours to get a tetanus shot to prevent tetanus. Rust can easily cause infection in the skin. The detailed processing steps are described below.

1. Squeeze out the blood containing rust

If you are accidentally stabbed by an iron nail, the first step is not to bandage the wound, but to squeeze the wound in the shortest time possible to squeeze out as much blood as possible. It's okay to bleed a little more, but the bacteria in the rust can cause the wound to become inflamed or even cause disease.

2. Flush the wound with boiled water

If you get your foot pierced by a nail, remember to rinse the wound immediately. It is not recommended to use tap water to rinse the wound. Tap water contains bacteria, which may make the wound worse. Boiled water is tap water that has been treated at high temperatures. The bacteria and microorganisms in the water have been eliminated, so it can be used to clean wounds.

3. Apply iodine or alcohol

If your foot is accidentally injured, it is best to apply alcohol or iodine after cleaning the wound. Both are used for disinfection, which can ensure that open wounds will not be contaminated by bacteria in the air and cause the condition to worsen.

4. Apply ointment and observe the wound

If the wound is not very deep or large, you can apply ointment yourself and then observe. If the wound improves after applying the medicine, you can continue to use it. If the wound worsens, you should seek medical attention immediately.

5. Bandage the wound

If your foot is accidentally scratched by a nail, you should use a Band-Aid or bandage to protect the wound after completing the above treatment steps. Band-aids and bandages should be changed regularly. Note: Band-aids and bandages should not be wrapped too tightly, looseness is better.

6. If the wound is too deep, a tetanus injection should be given

If the nail is inserted deep enough, a tetanus injection is necessary. Once the toxin is formed in the body, it will devour platelets, causing rapid failure of the body or even death. Countless people die from tetanus every year. Never 7. Don't get the injection in the hope of getting lucky.

Seek medical attention immediately if you experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or fever

If you are scratched by iron, you must rest. Walk less and eat light meals. If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or fever, you should seek medical attention immediately. The later you see a doctor, the greater the risk.

· Try to squeeze out some of the dirty blood first

Check if the nails are rusty. If they are rusty, you cannot handle it yourself and need to go to the nearest hospital or health center for treatment.

If the nail is visually free of rust, the wound is not deep, and the area around the wound is relatively clean

1. Wash your hands

2. Squeeze out the dirty blood again, suck out the dirty blood from the wound with your mouth and spit it out, repeat 2 to 3 times

3. If you have some medicine to treat the wound, you can use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the wound.

4. Disinfection step 1: Use a cotton swab to dip the medicine into the wound, so that the medicine can fully penetrate the wound. It will be painful at this time, so bear it.

5. Disinfection step 2: Use alcohol or medical hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the area around the wound. Use a cotton swab dipped in the medicine and apply it in a circle around the wound.

6. Disinfection step 3: Use another cotton swab dipped in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and apply it to the wound again to disinfect the area around the wound.

7. Use another cotton swab and dip it in mercurochrome, gentian violet, or iodine to smear on the wound and surrounding areas.

8. Use a band-aid or clean gauze to cover the wound and protect it. If the wound is serious and conditions permit, you can apply anti-inflammatory ointment to the wound. If not, you can use erythromycin eye ointment instead.

9. Change the bandage or gauze every day. Repeat the disinfection and application of medicine as when you were just injured. Observe the recovery of the wound while changing. If the redness and swelling of the wound are slowly subsiding, you can stop bandaging the wound after three days to let it heal slowly.

Note: During the recovery period, be careful not to let the injured part touch water, otherwise it is easy to get infected.

If the wound does not get better or becomes worse when changing the gauze, go to the hospital or health center immediately.
