How to change information for acute viral hepatitis

Acute viral hepatitis is relatively common in my country, mainly with gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, etc., accompanied by symptoms of poisoning, lack of energy, and jaundice. It usually occurs rapidly and you should seek medical attention in time when symptoms appear to avoid delaying the disease. Below we will talk in detail about the prevention, symptoms and treatment of this disease.

(1) Obvious symptoms of systemic poisoning. As the jaundice progresses, the patient becomes extremely weak, listless, drowsy or insomniac, has personality changes, mental abnormalities, impaired calculation and orientation, asterixis, and impaired consciousness.

(2) Severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including a significant loss of appetite, even anorexia, frequent nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal distension.

(3) Jaundice progressively worsens, with serum total bilirubin rising to over 171 μmol/L (equivalent to 10 mL%) within a few days, while serum alanine aminotransferase decreases or even returns to normal, indicating bile-enzyme dissociation. In a small number of patients, the disease progresses rapidly and they develop impaired consciousness before jaundice becomes obvious.

(4) The liver or liver dullness progressively shrinks, and ascites rapidly appears within a few days of onset. Liver CT and B-ultrasound examinations showed liver atrophy

① Skin lesions. Allergic symptoms such as urticaria and angioedema are common in the early stages. Chronic hepatitis B may cause erythema nodosum, etc.

②Arthritis. The affected joints are often single or multiple, most commonly the wrists, elbows, and knees. There is no severe pain, which is quite similar to migratory rheumatoid arthritis.

③Cardiovascular disease. Myocarditis, pericarditis, nodular periarteritis, etc. may occur, which may be caused by direct invasion of the cardiovascular system by the hepatitis B virus.

④Kidney disease. More common. Proteinuria, hematuria, and even granular casts appear in the early stages, forming immune complex nephritis.

⑤ Digestive system: Inflammatory changes may occur in the gastrointestinal mucosa in the early stages of hepatitis, resulting in upper abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, etc. Intestinal mucosal edema is common in chronic hepatitis. In addition, bile tract infections are common.

⑥Blood system: hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, etc.

⑦ Pancreatic lesions: The most common is acute edematous pancreatitis.

⑧Nervous system: such as transverse myelitis, cranial nerve paralysis, etc.

Precautions

1. rest

In the early stage of the disease, you must rest in bed. After the symptoms are significantly alleviated, jaundice subsides, and liver function improves significantly, you can gradually increase your activity level so as not to cause fatigue and fluctuations in liver function. After the symptoms disappear and liver function returns to normal, you can gradually resume work after 1 to 3 months of rest and observation. However, regular check-ups should still be performed every 1 to 2 years.

2. Nutrition

In the early stages of the disease, it is advisable to give patients a light diet that is easily digestible and suitable for their taste, but it should contain an appropriate amount of calories, protein and vitamins, and supplement with vitamin C and B vitamins. If the patient has poor appetite and eats too little, glucose solution and vitamin C can be supplemented intravenously. After the appetite improves, the child should be given a diet containing sufficient protein, carbohydrates and an appropriate amount of fat. High-sugar, low-fat diet is not emphasized, and excessive food intake is not advisable.

3. Chinese medicine treatment

According to local conditions, Chinese herbal medicine or dialectical treatment of Chinese medicine prescriptions can be adopted. The treatment of acute hepatitis should clear away heat and dampness, resolve turbidity with aromatics, and regulate qi and activate blood circulation. For those with more heat, you can use Yinchenhao Decoction, Gardenia and Platycodon Decoction with modifications, or decoct and take Gentiana scabra, Isatis root, Centella asiatica, Honeysuckle, etc.; for those with more dampness, you can use Yinchen Siling Powder and Sanren Decoction with modifications. Cholestatic hepatitis is often related to damp-heat stagnation in the gallbladder and liver and gallbladder dysfunction. On the basis of clearing heat, detoxifying and removing dampness, it is important to use methods that eliminate blood stasis and promote bile secretion, such as red peony root, alum, and nitrate alum powder.

Therefore, it is not terrible to have acute viral hepatitis. What is terrible is our fear and avoidance of treatment. As long as we face the disease positively, keep a calm mind, actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment, and eat a reasonable diet, the condition will definitely get better. Everyone should understand the characteristics of acute viral hepatitis, take early prevention, strengthen exercise to improve their own immunity, and the disease will definitely stay away from us. Let's work hard together!
