What causes genital inflammation in boys

What causes genital inflammation in boys

Genital inflammation is a common phenomenon in young children, especially boys. Sometimes they like to play with their genitals out of curiosity. This can easily lead to bacterial infection and cause genital inflammation. In addition to this situation, if children do not pay attention to personal hygiene in public places, cross infection may occur, which is also very harmful to children. As parents, we must avoid this and seek timely treatment once inflammation or infection occurs.

What causes genital inflammation in boys

1. Many babies like to move their genitals for a period of time. This is due to their curiosity. Secondly, it is possible that such behavior makes the baby feel comfortable, which is understandable, but the baby should be made aware that such actions are unhygienic. But don't scold harshly, as this will only reinforce the situation. You can try diverting your baby's attention and get him to focus on other activities. Over time, this phenomenon will disappear on its own in most babies.

2. Another reason why the baby moves his genitals may be that he is uncomfortable. Maybe the underwear the baby wears is too tight, or the genitals are inflamed. When encountering this situation, parents should not let their children wear too many clothes or too hot. They should wear looser underwear to avoid the underwear rubbing against the child's external genitalia, and at the same time keep the external genitalia clean and hygienic. If the child has pinworms, phimosis or perineal eczema, he or she will often rub the penis due to local itching. You should take the child to the hospital for treatment.

Put underwear on your baby

Well-fitting underwear can reduce a child's exposure to their genitals. Wearing underwear can prevent germs from invading the baby's body and prevent symptoms such as vulvar infection. Wearing underwear can cultivate the baby's independence, because the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the underwear are the same, so the baby's hands-on ability and observation ability will be greatly enhanced, and the baby can also learn to recognize gender. Therefore, it is best for children to wear underwear before the age of 3. If possible, the earlier they wear it, the better it is for the baby.

Cleaning precautions

(1) The water temperature should be appropriate: The water temperature when bathing the baby should be controlled at 38-40 degrees Celsius. This not only protects the baby's skin from burns, but also protects the scrotum from burns. When taking a bath, be sure to control the water temperature. At the same time, you need to rinse after each bowel movement.

(2) Cleaning the foreskin and glans: There is no need to clean the foreskin deliberately before the baby is one year old, because the baby's foreskin and glans are still grown together at this time. Turning over the tender foreskin too early will hurt the baby's genitals. After one year old, it should be cleaned every few days, but only when the baby is emotionally stable. When cleaning, the mother gently pinches the middle section of the penis with the thumb and index finger of her right hand, gently pushes the foreskin back toward the child's abdominal wall, so that the glans and coronal sulcus are completely exposed, and then gently cleans it with warm water. After washing, be sure to restore the foreskin to its original position.

(3) Do not squeeze: The baby's "little chicken" (also known as the penis) is covered with tendons and fibrous tissue and is exposed to the outside of the body, making it very fragile. When bathing, new parents can easily squeeze or pinch these parts of the baby's body due to nervousness or panic, and accidentally use force with their hands. Therefore, special attention is required.

(4) Focus cleaning: The focus of cleaning should be the places where dirt and grime are most likely to accumulate. Therefore, you should gently lift up the penis and gently scrub the base. Also, the area under the scrotum is also a "hidden" place, including the area near the groin, where urine and sweat often accumulate.
