Symptoms of pityriasis versicolor

Pityriasis versicolor is mainly caused by infection with pathogenic bacteria. After the patient becomes ill, light brown macules or grayish white scales will generally appear on the affected area. If the patient is seriously ill, large areas of skin lesions will appear on the body, which will greatly affect the patient's appearance. Some patients may even develop inferiority complex because of this. However, pityriasis versicolor is not entirely caused by the patient's sweat.

Pityriasis versicolor can occur in various parts of the patient's body, and some severe cases may even cause itching. If you want to prevent pityriasis versicolor, you still need to take a bath and change clothes frequently in your daily life and maintain personal hygiene.

Pityriasis versicolor is a superficial fungal disease caused by Malassezia infecting the stratum corneum of the epidermis. The disease is chronic, with mild inflammation and usually no symptoms. The lesions are characterized by scattered or fused hypopigmented or hyperpigmented macules with bran-like desquamation, which often occur on the chest, back, upper arms, axillae, and sometimes on the face.

The initial lesions are circular punctate macules surrounding the pores, which gradually increase to the size of a nail plate with clear edges. Adjacent areas may merge into large irregular patches, with new macules appearing around them. The surface is covered with a small amount of bran-like scales that are easily peeled off, ranging from gray, brown to yellow-brown, and sometimes multiple colors coexist, resembling spots. The longer the time, the lighter the spots. The rash has no inflammatory reaction and occasionally causes mild itching. The lesions often occur on the chest and back, but may also affect the neck, face, armpits, abdomen, shoulders and upper arms. It is generally more common in young and middle-aged men. The course of the disease is chronic, with the rash decreasing or disappearing in winter but recurring in summer.

Once patients find tinea versicolor on their bodies, they must go to a regular hospital for treatment immediately. If the tinea versicolor is delayed without treatment, the disease will be aggravated and the best time for treatment will be missed. In this way, the tinea versicolor treatment process will become very difficult. In addition, patients with tinea versicolor should have a light diet.
