The disease is caused by the natural failure of the testicles' spermatogenesis and the secretion of the male hormone testosterone. The course of disease is gradual and there is a large age difference (51-64 years old). There are also people over 60 years old whose functions are still healthy. The main manifestations are neurotic syndrome symptoms such as headache and insomnia, which may be accompanied by depression, vasomotor disorders, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, and sexual dysfunction. Plasma testosterone concentration decreased significantly, and urinary gonadotropin increased significantly. Treatment with male hormones such as testosterone propionate is effective.
