Chondromalacia patellae is a relatively common disease. The symptoms of this disease are often not particularly obvious in the early stages of the disease, so some patients may not discover it in time and miss the best time for early treatment. In addition, some patients discover the disease but only take some painkillers to relieve pain when the disease occurs, which makes the condition worse. When the disease of patellar chondromalacia is more serious, the patient's joints cannot move well, for example, they cannot stand on one leg. If the disease is delayed, the patient's cartilage will be destroyed in the late stage of the disease. Chondromalacia patellae, also known as chondromalacia patellae and chondritis patellae, is a common disease of the knee joint. It is more common in young and middle-aged people, especially among athletes and sports enthusiasts. The incidence rate in women is higher than that in men. The main pathological changes are degenerative changes of cartilage, including cartilage swelling, fragmentation, and shedding. Finally, the corresponding part of the femoral condyle also undergoes the same lesions, developing into patellofemoral osteoarthritis. Direct trauma to the knee can cause patellar cartilage or osteochondral fractures, or multiple injuries, such as sports injuries, can cause degenerative changes in the cartilage, making the cartilage surface rough and dull. In severe cases, the cartilage falls off, exposing the bone and also damaging the opposite femoral articular surface. The injury site is usually in the center of the patella. This disease mostly occurs in young and middle-aged people, and most of them have a history of obvious trauma, or chronic cumulative small injuries. The main symptom is pain behind the patella of the knee joint, which varies in severity. Generally, the symptoms are not obvious when walking on flat ground, but the pain worsens when squatting and standing up, going up and down stairs, up and down slopes, or after walking a long distance. For patients with patellar chondromalacia, if the symptoms are relatively mild, then some more flexible movements are needed, such as going up and down stairs or riding a bicycle, etc. If the patient's symptoms are more severe, surgical treatment is required. The main purpose of surgical treatment is to cut the cartilage of the patient's affected area. |
