American scholar Helfrey calculated human lifespan based on the number of cell divisions and concluded that human lifespan should be 120 years. These research results are surprisingly consistent with our ancestors' records of lifespan. However, why is the average life expectancy of modern people only 70 or 80 years old, and most of them die of illness! Why is the life expectancy of modern people nearly one-third less than what the ancients expected? . 1. How old should a person live to be considered to have lived a full life? Why is the average life expectancy of modern people only 70 or 80 years old, and most of them die of illness! Why is the life expectancy of modern people nearly one-third less than what the ancients expected? Who stole these forty or fifty years of precious life? In my long medical career, I have faced all kinds of patients, and I often ask them a question: "How old do you want to live to?" To my surprise, many people said that they have not thought about this question carefully. The length and quality of life are the biggest things in our lives. If you don’t care enough about it, how much happiness can you have in life? We should indeed prepare for our health and longevity early. This preparation will not take much of your time and money, but it will bring you a high-quality life. A high-quality life means living to a ripe old age. How old do you have to be to be considered “old age”? The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine says: "People in ancient times lived to be a hundred years old and died to the end of their natural life." Thousands of years ago, the wise Chinese were able to deduce a person's life according to the laws governing the operation of nature. This is a question that deserves everyone's deep thought. What causes us to get sick? Who steals away forty or fifty years of our life? Of course it’s the yin energy. Negative energy is caused by ourselves. We often artificially harm our yang energy and promote our yin energy, which causes us to become weak at the age of fifty and unable to live to a natural lifespan. Our ancestors pointed this out to us thousands of years ago. The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine says that people who are not good at maintaining their health drink alcohol as unrestrainedly as they drink beverages. Drinking too much alcohol not only damages one's spirit, but also damages one's internal organs and blood vessels. In addition, people often regard lifestyles that are harmful to their physical and mental health as normal, and fall into various health misunderstandings without realizing it. For example, after getting drunk, one goes to bed and indulges in lust, which harms the body from alcohol and tires the body from sex. One only seeks temporary pleasure and indulges in lust without restraint, without knowing how to maintain one's own energy. In addition, many unhealthy lifestyles such as staying up late, overeating, irregular daily routines, etc. can cause people to age prematurely in their fifties and be plagued by diseases and unable to live to a ripe old age! Some people say, "Nowadays, the average life expectancy is longer than in the past, and there are many elderly people living to their eighties or nineties." But I think: when these centenarians were young, their lives were different. Nowadays, the health of those people who work hard all day long is really not optimistic. For example, diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, frozen shoulder, and vascular sclerosis have appeared prematurely in people in their thirties and forties. I am a perfectionist. I hope everyone can have perfect success and happiness. I don't want anyone to suddenly collapse when they achieve success. But these things that I don’t want to see are happening around us every day. In fact, our ancestors have long pointed out a bright road to living to a ripe old age in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine: "Follow the laws of yin and yang, be in harmony with the art of numbers, have regular daily routines, eat and drink in moderation, and do not overwork. This way, your body and spirit will be in harmony, and you will live out your natural lifespan and die at the age of 100." What does it mean? It means that we should not artificially harm our Yang Energy at any time and in any place, but I think this is not enough. In my opinion, we should actively and proactively cultivate our Yang Energy in various ways at any time to enhance the body's self-healing ability. Remember, no matter how old you are now, as long as you have enough yang energy, living to a ripe old age is not a dream. 2. Health preservation is to nourish Yang Qi When the human body is unwell, the body is like the cold and damp weather, but as soon as the sun comes out, this environment is not conducive to the growth and development of the disease. Therefore, we must use our own hands to lift up the sun of the human body, let it shine on our internal organs, and bring us long-term health. Nowadays, there are many diseases that are difficult to treat, and it is difficult to achieve good results using conventional methods. How to quickly resolve these difficult and complicated diseases has become a problem that has troubled me for many years. It was precisely these difficulties that prompted me to constantly think and pursue in my life, combining the wisdom and experience of the ancients. Until one day, when I re-read the "Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic", I discovered that there was a very important mystery hidden in it. The secret is to protect the Yang energy. The "Discussion on the Origin of Life" in the "Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic" says: "Yang Qi is like the sky and the sun. If it loses its place, it will shorten life and not be obvious." The "Discussion on the Correspondence of Yin and Yang" says: Yin and Yang are "the origin of life and death." Zhang Jingyue commented: "The way of life and death is nothing but yin and yang. When yang comes, things are born, and when yang goes, things die." It was these two sentences that made me realize the true meaning of curing diseases and maintaining health and saving lives. The problems that had troubled me for many years suddenly became clear. It turns out that human life all depends on the word "Yang Qi". Only by protecting the Yang Qi can all diseases be prevented. Only when the Yang Qi is strong can the body's self-healing ability be normally exerted and medicine can be useful. It is the deficiency of Yang Qi that causes our bodies to have one health problem or another. The reason why many people’s diseases cannot be cured for a long time is not because medicine is useless, but because their own Yang Qi has not been stimulated. Once I opened up this line of thought, I immediately discovered that all the famous Chinese doctors throughout the ages, when treating illnesses and maintaining health, were actually mobilizing the body's yang energy. Dou Cai, a medical scientist in the Song Dynasty, was an advocate of Yang Qi health preservation. He emphasized that "if the Yang essence is strong, one can live a thousand years, but if the Yin Qi is strong, one will be injured." Among them, moxibustion on Guanyuan point was the focus. He believed that people should moxibustion Guanyuan point for a thousand times at the turn of summer and autumn every year, which is about a month, in order to maintain strong energy and physical strength. If they do this year after year, over time, the Dantian in the lower abdomen will often be as warm as a sun, which makes people happy. This secret in the "Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic" was discovered by many great doctors in ancient times and successfully used in clinical practice. Since then, when I treat diseases and give people health guidance, I also take the protection of Yang Qi as the core content. With this as a guide, many difficult and complicated diseases are easily solved. I let people use the method of standing still to invigorate the body's yang energy, teach people to use acupoints to stimulate the body's yang energy, and use diet therapy and other methods to conquer the biggest killer of yang energy - dampness. Practice has proved that the effect of doing so is very good. To keep in good health is to nourish the Yang energy. When the human body is unwell, the body is like the cold and damp weather, but as soon as the sun comes out, this environment is not conducive to the growth and development of the disease. Therefore, we must use our own hands to lift up the sun of the human body, let it shine on our internal organs, and bring us long-term health. 3. Why do modern people have more yin than yang? We should adjust our breathing and diet to nourish the body's yang energy. In terms of breathing, you should breathe more fresh air that carries the spiritual energy of heaven and the vitality of all plants and trees. In terms of diet, we should use the characteristics of food to help the growth of Yang energy. In real life, people with physical weakness often experience the following symptoms: Cold hands and feet, pale and dull complexion, or dark complexion, obvious fear of cold, particularly sensitive to cold weather, or feeling of being poured with cold water on the waist and back, like to drink hot tea and hot soup, fatigue and weakness, prone to chronic diarrhea, indigestion, malnutrition, anemia or edema, etc.; secondly, palpitation, shortness of breath, easy sweating after slight exercise, or thin and unformed stool, easy diarrhea after catching a cold, edema after fatigue, or frequent urination at night, loss of libido, impotence and premature ejaculation in men, reduced menstruation, infertility, sterility... All these are manifestations of the dominance of yin and the weakness of yang. The human body is shrouded in the menacing shadow of disease, and the Yang Qi is deficient, so these symptoms appear. Today, the above symptoms no longer seem to be exclusive to people with long-term illness and physical weakness. We normal people also have some of the above symptoms to a greater or lesser extent. Why do modern people have more yin than yang? The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine tells us: Man is born of heaven and earth, heaven nourishes man's yang with its qi, and earth nourishes man's yin with its food. We can look at the environment around us. The pollution is too serious. Breathing in air of this quality will definitely damage our yang energy. In addition, the food on our table is exquisite and rich, and most of them are "flesh and blood products" such as chicken, duck, fish and meat, which are the best for nourishing yin. In this kind of life, many people have become wealthy in body, but their spirits cannot be lifted up. The spirit is Yang and the body is Yin. When the two are unbalanced, with Yin being strong and Yang being weak, the phenomenon known in traditional Chinese medicine as "form overcoming Qi" occurs. The "Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic" says: "Those who have Qi overcoming form will live long, while those who have form overcoming Qi will die young." In other words, when a person's mental state cannot fully control his body, he will become ill and it will be difficult to cure. This reminds us that we should adjust our breathing and diet to nourish the body's yang energy. In terms of breathing, you should breathe more fresh air that carries the spiritual energy of heaven and the vitality of all plants and trees; in terms of diet, you should use the characteristics of food to help the growth of Yang Qi. For example, dampness in the body is a common problem for modern people. Dampness is a yin evil that can suppress Yang Qi. Barley and red bean soup can remove dampness from the body. Once the dampness is removed, Yang Qi will naturally grow. In addition, you should pay attention to the combination of food. For example, drinking wine with kudzu flowers can prevent drunkenness; cold crabs should be eaten with warm ginger and perilla leaves to prevent gout. If we pay a little attention to these small problems in life, our health will take a big step forward! The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine also tells us that movement belongs to Yang and stillness belongs to Yin. Modern people's bodies lack proper exercise, making the body more static than active, resulting in an excess of yin. The combination of the two will damage the body's yang energy, causing our bodies to show a pathological yang deficiency state, making our yang energy more deficient than that of the ancients. The birth of all things is due to the Yang, and the death of all things is also due to the Yang. A person's growth, development and aging are all dominated by Yang Qi; the production of essence, blood, body fluids are all transformed by Yang Qi. However, the era, environment and life we live in provide us with too little Yang Qi, which is why we are plagued by various diseases today. 4. Vigorous Yang Qi, immune to all diseases The human body has the ability to resist external evil. This ability is Yang Qi, which is also called "Wei Yang" or "Wei Qi" in traditional Chinese medicine. Wei means guard and protect. Yang Qi is like the body's guards. It is distributed on the surface of the skin (cuticle) and is responsible for resisting all external evils and protecting the body's safety. As long as anyone has strong Yang energy, he or she can be immune to all diseases. When modern people have minor illnesses, such as a cold, they generally do not easily seek help from Chinese medicine practitioners. Many people who have been ill for a long time and are physically weak often ask me when they describe their various illnesses: "What is the cause of my illnesses?" I said: "The root cause of your illnesses in the past and now is only one, that is, weak Yang Qi." In the world, the wind, cold, heat, humidity, dryness and fire in nature are constantly threatening our health. These are what Chinese medicine calls the "six evil spirits". Throughout the year, there are wind evils in spring, heat and damp evils in summer, dryness evils in autumn, and cold evils in winter. After they invade the human body, some of them cause disease quickly, while others remain dormant for a long time and transform into various forms of other diseases. However, why do some people get sick while others do not, when they are all surrounded by the six evil spirits? It turns out that the human body has the ability to resist external evil. In the world, the wind, cold, heat, humidity, dryness and fire in nature are constantly threatening our health. Among the six evil spirits, people with strong Yang energy can easily keep the evil spirits out of the body. Therefore, no matter how bad the environment is, no matter what kind of germs are prevalent outside, they will not get sick. Why can some people escape the plague? It is because their Yang Qi is very strong. But it is different for people with weak Yang Qi. The evil Qi will enter the body directly and hurt it without encountering any resistance on the surface of the body. Therefore, those who suffer from various difficult and complicated diseases, serious illnesses or chronic diseases basically have weak Wei Yang and loose pores. It is because of the lack of Yang Qi that various external evil Qi gradually invade the human body and accumulate over time. The causes of disease are the six external evils and the seven internal emotions, namely: joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear and shock. Extreme joy hurts the heart, extreme anger hurts the liver, worry hurts the spleen, extreme sadness hurts the lungs, and fear hurts the kidneys. Many diseases of the five internal organs are caused by emotional fluctuations. When do people's emotions fluctuate the most? Or when the Yang energy is insufficient. People with sufficient Yang energy are optimistic and open-minded, while people with insufficient Yang energy are pessimistic, desperate and constantly worried. Therefore, if the Yang Energy is raised, people's mental outlook will undergo a significant change, and the diseases caused by the so-called "seven emotions" will all go away from us. Even if we accidentally get sick occasionally, the body's self-healing function will restore our body to its original state in the shortest time possible. Also, so-called aging is simply the decline of yang and the growth of yin. Aging is a natural law, but through hard work we can delay aging until the limit of life given to us by nature. When a person lives to the end of his life, death is no longer a scary thing, but a great relief and joy. In short, as long as the Yang energy is sufficient, we will naturally not be afraid of getting sick, aging, or death. All doctors can do is to use needles and medicines to mobilize the body's yang energy and revive the body's self-healing function. If we know how to protect and cultivate Yang Energy, then we can say without shame: the best doctor is ourselves. |
