Effects of snake venom

Effects of snake venom

There are many poisonous snakes. Poisonous snakes are harmful to us. If we are bitten by a poisonous snake and cannot detoxify in time, it will pose a great threat to our life and health. However, everyone still does not know the effects of snake venom. We do not know what other effects snake venom has. In fact, the biggest effect of snake venom is its pharmacological effect, which has a good effect in treating some diseases.

Effects of snake venom

Snake venom is now a very good medicinal material. Its pharmacological effects are very great. Although everyone may not understand the effects of snake venom, it has been widely used in clinical practice. Moreover, snake venom is very complex and there are many types of it. It can cause cancer, stop bleeding, and relieve pain.

Anticancer effect

Cancer is one of the three major diseases that endanger human health. There is no effective treatment at present. Scientists from various countries are studying snake venom as a new field to overcome this barrier. The Snake Venom Research Laboratory of China Medical University tried to find effective ingredients that can inhibit tumor growth from the venom of the Agkistrodon acutus produced in Shedao, Dalian, Liaoning. They carried out a tumor inhibition test comparing the original venom and the isolated venom of the Agkistrodon acutus from Shedao. Nine different concentrations of snake venom had different degrees of inhibition on mouse sarcoma, and the tumor inhibition rate was as high as 87.1%.

Anticoagulant effect

The "defibrase" extracted from the venom of the Chinese five-step snake developed by the Kunming Institute of Zoology in Yunnan, China passed the technical appraisal in 1981 and was used to treat 333 cases of vascular thrombosis, including 242 cases of cerebral thrombosis, with an effective rate of 86.4%. The pit viper acid antacid developed by China Medical University and Shenyang Pharmaceutical College has achieved satisfactory results in the treatment of vascular occlusive diseases. The snake venom acid antacid developed by the Snake Venom Research Laboratory of China Medical University can lower blood lipids, dilate blood vessels, reduce the content of thromboxane in the blood, increase prostacyclin, and relax vascular smooth muscle. It is an ideal anticoagulant and thrombolytic agent.

Hemostatic effect

Japan uses a procoagulant ingredient extracted from vipers to treat a variety of bleeding diseases in clinical surgery, internal medicine, ENT, obstetrics and gynecology. The drug is called "reptile enzyme injection".

Analgesic effect

In 1976, Kunming Zoological Research Institute of Yunnan Province successfully developed "Ketongling" from cobra venom for clinical use in the treatment of various painful diseases, achieving unique analgesic effects. The "Compound Ketongning" developed by Cao Yisheng showed good efficacy in the treatment of neuropathic pain, cancer pain and drug addiction. Since snake venom analgesics have higher analgesic activity and are non-addictive, they are clinically used to replace morphine in the treatment of pain in the late stage of cancer.

Beauty effect

In 2006, the Swiss company Pantapharm successfully developed the tripeptide SYN-AKE, which simulates the active site of the Waglerin-1 protein in the venom of the Brazilian viper. It is an acetylcholine receptor antagonist and can be used as a cosmetic active ingredient for topical application to areas such as the eye area. Similar to botulinum toxin (BOTOX), it can reduce frequent muscle contractions at the application site and the expression lines and dynamic lines caused by them, thereby achieving the effect of reducing and lightening wrinkles.

Snake venom has many functions. Through our introduction today, everyone knows that snake venom is so useful, especially in anti-cancer, cancer treatment, and anti-tumor. This is the most significant effect. Many cancer patients are treated with snake venom, and treatment with snake venom will also have a very good effect. It also plays a great role in medical research.
