Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease. It was a relatively serious disease before the founding of the People's Republic of China. With the advancement of medical technology, tuberculosis can now achieve very good treatment results. Once tuberculosis occurs, the most common type is pulmonary tuberculosis, which often causes patients to have a long-term low fever, general fatigue, and night sweats. For women, it may affect the reproductive system, leading to irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea and other symptoms. What are the symptoms of the disease? The manifestations of invasion vary in different parts. Early stage or mild pulmonary tuberculosis may be asymptomatic or may be mild and thus ignored. If the disease is in the active progression stage, the following symptoms may appear: body temperature often rises in the afternoon, generally between 37 and 38°C, patients often have general fatigue or weight loss, night sweats, and women may suffer from irregular menstruation or amenorrhea. 1. Pulmonary tuberculosis Coughing and coughing up sputum are the most common early symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis, and the sputum may contain blood or small blood clots. 2. Gastric tuberculosis The clinical manifestations are very inconsistent. Some are asymptomatic or very mild, some are similar to chronic gastritis, gastric cancer, and most are similar to ulcer disease. Patients have upper abdominal discomfort or pain, often accompanied by acid reflux and belching, and the abdominal pain is unrelated to eating. The vomiting caused by pyloric obstruction is mostly severe in the afternoon and evening. The vomitus is the food eaten and does not contain bile. The occult blood may be negative, and the abdominal distension will be relieved after vomiting. In addition to gastric symptoms, systemic tuberculosis symptoms may also occur, such as fatigue, weight loss, afternoon fever, and night sweats. During physical examination, an irregular mass may sometimes be felt in the upper abdomen. When there is pyloric obstruction, gastric shape, peristaltic waves and gurgling sounds may be seen in the upper abdomen. 3. Liver tuberculosis The most common symptoms are fever and fatigue. Other symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, and diarrhea. Fever usually occurs in the afternoon, sometimes accompanied by chills and night sweats; there are low-grade fever and also remittent fever, and the high fever can reach 39-41°C. People with tuberculosis may have recurrent fever for a long time. 4. Intestinal tuberculosis The clinical manifestations are often not obvious in the early stages, and most have a slow onset and a long course. If it coexists with extraintestinal tuberculosis, its clinical manifestations may be obscured and ignored. Thus, active extraintestinal tuberculosis, for example, presents with pronounced gastrointestinal symptoms. |
