What is the cause of the red, swollen and itchy big pimples?

The appearance of large bumps on the skin, which are red, swollen, and unbearably itchy, is a symptom that many people have experienced. There are many causes of this symptom, such as folliculitis, urticaria and skin allergies, which are common causes. After the onset of this symptom, patients should not seek treatment blindly, but should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause, and then receive correct and effective treatment under the guidance of a doctor!

Folliculitis

This disease is a purulent inflammation caused by bacterial infection of the entire hair follicle. Initially it appears as red papules, which gradually evolve into papular pustules, which are isolated and scattered, and cause mild pain. In adults, it mainly occurs in hairy areas, and in children, it is more common on the head. The rashes can sometimes merge with each other, and small bald spots may remain after healing.

The pathogens are mainly Staphylococci, and Staphylococcus epidermidis can sometimes be isolated. Uncleanliness, scratching and low body resistance may be the causes of this disease.

Urticaria

Urticaria is commonly known as wheal. It is a localized edema reaction caused by dilation of small blood vessels and increased permeability in the skin and mucous membranes. It usually subsides within 2 to 24 hours, but new rashes may occur repeatedly. The course of the disease lasts from several days to several months. It is quite common in clinical practice.

The cause of urticaria is very complicated, and the cause cannot be found in about 3/4 of patients, especially chronic urticaria. The common causes include: food and food additives; inhalants; infection; drugs; physical factors such as mechanical stimulation, cold and heat, sunlight, etc.; insect bites; mental factors and endocrine changes; genetic factors, etc.

Skin allergies

Skin allergy is also called sensitive skin. The main characteristics are thin skin and easy allergies. From a medical point of view, skin allergy mainly refers to when the skin is exposed to various stimuli such as adverse reactions to cosmetics, chemicals, pollen, certain foods, polluted air, etc., causing abnormal phenomena such as redness, itching, peeling and allergic dermatitis. Sensitive skin can be said to be an unstable skin. It is a skin that is always on high alert. People with sensitive skin who are prone to allergies can usually target skin allergies, dry skin, peeling skin, redness of the skin, oily skin, and sensitive and stinging skin.
