Sweat in the eyes

Many people sweat when they exercise. Some people accidentally let sweat flow into their eyes. Sweat has a certain stimulating effect on the eyes. If this happens, it will often cause severe pain in the eyes. Therefore, when exercising, you must take some measures to prevent sweat from entering the eyes. In addition, in the summer, special attention should be paid to preventing five eye diseases: eye allergies, conjunctivitis, styes, dry eyes, and conjunctival maculopathy.

1. The harm of sweat flowing into the eyes

1. The components of sweat itself cause eye pain, such as salt, which has a certain stimulating effect.

2. When sweat flows into the eyes, it gets contaminated with dirt on the face. It will definitely hurt if foreign matter enters the eyes.

3. If your eyes have eye diseases, the most common one is trachoma, it will be very painful if sweat irritates them.

4. Prolonged dry eyes. For example, if you use your eyes for a long time without getting effective rest, the sudden stimulation of water may cause pain.

2. How to prevent sweat from flowing into your eyes?

1. Add a line of defense above your eyes to block the sweat from flowing down. For example, a sweat guide belt or sweat guide cap, pressed from the brow arch to the back of the head, can prevent sweat from flowing into the eyes.

2. Wrap a towel or wrist guard around your wrist during exercise to protect your wrist from injury and wipe off sweat at any time.

3. Apply a layer of Vaseline along the eyebrows towards the temples to prevent sweat from flowing into the eyes along the inner and outer canthi of the eyes.

3. Prevent 5 common eye diseases in summer

1. Eye allergies

In summer, the amount of pollen, grass powder, catkins and other particles in the air increases significantly. When people engage in outdoor activities, the chance of eye allergies increases, causing itching, redness and burning pain in the eyes. It is recommended that when symptoms are mild, artificial tears can be used topically for flushing to dilute allergens and relieve symptoms. If the symptoms are severe or the above methods cannot provide relief, it is best to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible and receive medication under the doctor's guidance.

2. Conjunctivitis

The head is more prone to sweating in the summer, and the sweat flowing into the eyes will irritate the cornea and cause redness of the eyes, but the symptoms of red eyes usually disappear quickly. However, rubbing the eyes and substandard swimming pool water quality can lead to acute conjunctivitis (also known as pink eye). If you develop conjunctivitis, you should seek medical attention immediately to prevent the condition from worsening and spreading to others. You should develop good personal hygiene habits, cut your nails frequently, wash your hands before and after meals, and avoid rubbing your eyes with dirty hands.

3. Stye

Also known as hordeolum, it is an eye disease caused by bacterial infection of the eyelids. Symptoms include: swelling, redness and pain of the eyelids. After a stye appears, remember not to squeeze it at will. Once you find your eyelids are red and swollen, seek medical attention immediately, use medication and hot compresses in time, so that the stye can disappear as soon as possible.

4. Dry Eye Disease

Dry eye disease is a common disease in autumn and winter, but in summer, staying in an air-conditioned room or an environment with poor air circulation for a long time can also cause dry eyes. In addition, the temperature is high in summer, the tear film evaporates quickly, and the eyes are more prone to dryness. It is recommended to sleep 6 to 8 hours every night to give your eyes enough rest. Doing eye exercises more often or applying chilled cucumber slices to your eyes can help improve early symptoms.

5. Conjunctival yellow spots

The summer sun is strong, and the eyes and skin are more likely to be exposed to ultraviolet radiation, which can easily lead to dry eyes and yellow spots on the conjunctiva (pingue-barriers), and even increase the risk of eye tissue cancer. It is recommended to wear UV-proof sunglasses when going out.
