What to do if you have blood in your urine

What to do if you have blood in your urine

Hematuria is a very serious problem. Many men find red liquid on their underwear in the early stages of hematuria and they don’t know what’s going on. Because in the early stage, there may be no pain when urinating, but when the disease progresses seriously, the urine is red and painful, then the patient may feel very scared or even terrified. In fact, there are many reasons why men may have hematuria, such as kidney stones or urinary tract tumors.

The occurrence of hematuria in men is mainly related to problems with the urinary system. The male urinary system may suffer from various types of diseases. Therefore, in order to avoid hematuria, we should first prevent urinary system diseases. However, if hematuria has already occurred, active measures should be taken to deal with it.

If hematuria is accompanied by long-term frequent urination, urgent urination, and painful urination, it is more likely to be renal tuberculosis. If hematuria is accompanied by eyelid, facial or whole body edema, increased blood pressure and fever, it may be acute nephritis. If hematuria is accompanied by severe frequent urination, urgent urination and painful urination, it is mostly acute cystitis. If urination is not smooth and the urethra is not painful, but light red urine is seen with the naked eye or trace amounts of red blood cells are seen under the microscope, it is mostly prostatitis. If hematuria is accompanied by low back pain symptoms, and sometimes severe paroxysmal low back pain - renal colic, it may be kidney or ureteral stones. People over 40 years old who have hematuria without obvious symptoms and pain may have urinary system tumors. If hematuria and low back pain are obviously related to body position and daily activities, such as symptoms improve after bed rest and worsen after increased physical activity, then the possibility of renal ptosis is greater. If hematuria is accompanied by bleeding in other parts of the body, it may be caused by blood disease.

Hematuria in men is a common manifestation of many urinary system diseases. Patients should go to the hospital as soon as possible to check the cause and receive symptomatic treatment. They should not be careless, otherwise it will be too late to regret when the hidden dangers in the body deteriorate into major diseases.

Most cases of hematuria are related to genitourinary diseases, including urinary tract infections, stones, prostate diseases, tumors, trauma, etc. Most patients with hematuria often have other symptoms. For example, hematuria caused by urinary tract infections such as acute cystitis and urethritis is often accompanied by bladder irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency and pain when urinating; hematuria caused by urinary stones is usually accompanied by acute lumbar colic, etc.

When there is sudden appearance of visible hematuria without any obvious cause but without pain or other symptoms, it is called "painless visible hematuria". Painless gross hematuria is more common in elderly patients and is usually considered an important warning sign of urinary system tumors. The elderly are a high-risk group for tumors. Common urinary system tumors include bladder cancer, kidney cancer, ureteral cancer, prostate cancer, etc. Among them, bladder cancer is the number one killer, which is manifested by visible blood in the urine throughout the entire urination process, especially at the end of urination, when the blood in the urine will become more severe.

The harm caused by hematuria in men is not just the disease itself. Since hematuria can easily lead to urinary tract infection, other diseases may be contracted due to urinary tract infection, causing greater harm to the patient. Therefore, if hematuria occurs, it must be treated promptly, and before treatment, the cause of the disease must be found out and then treated. Do not treat it blindly.
