Precautions for tuberculosis in the elderly

Precautions for tuberculosis in the elderly

There are many diseases hovering around people in their lives, waiting for an opportunity to take advantage and hurt them. Human wisdom should not be underestimated. People now have treatments for many diseases. However, there are still some diseases that are beyond human control and can take people's lives. Tuberculosis is a very common and terrible disease among people.

Tuberculosis is not only a contagious disease, but also extremely harmful to the human body, and people often die from it. The elderly are so weak that they are simply vulnerable if they suffer from such diseases. So is there anything special that people should pay attention to when treating tuberculosis in the elderly?

Elderly people suffering from tuberculosis should also pay attention to their daily diet: patients are more suitable to eat chicken, lean meat, eggs, soy products, millet, corn, dates, white fungus, lily, chestnuts, ginkgo nuts and other foods, as well as fresh vegetables. Such as cabbage, lotus root, cucumber, watermelon, apple, pear, etc. However, the amount of food to be eaten depends on personal circumstances. You should pay attention to the combination of staple food, meat, eggs, vegetables, and soup. Eat more fruits and do not be picky eaters. When choosing nutritious foods, pay special attention to dietary restrictions. For example, drinking milk can reduce the absorption rate of drugs for tuberculosis patients; eating scaleless fish or stale fish can easily cause allergies; eating eggplant can easily cause allergic reactions such as facial flushing, skin itching, irritability, systemic erythema, chest tightness, etc.

If the disease has been cured, there is no special precaution in life and the diet should be normal, including spicy food. But the following points should be noted: 1. Do not engage in dusty work. Such as coal mines, gold mines, etc.; 2. Do not smoke or drink, improve nutrition, and exercise appropriately; 3. Check ESR and CRP every year, and check chest CT when necessary; 4. If there are special problems remaining in the lungs (such as bronchiectasis, lung damage, etc.), it depends on the specific situation.

Tuberculosis is not as simple as the common cold, so people need to be more patient and careful when treating it. Only with the hospital's unremitting treatment and their families' meticulous care can elderly patients have a glimmer of hope. Of course, when caring for patients, people should pay attention to their own safety and avoid being infected by them.
