Differences between thrush and mouth ulcers

Differences between thrush and mouth ulcers

Oral thrush, also known as oral thrush, is a disease caused by fungal infection and is common in infants. In the early stage of the disease, the wounds are small and then gradually merge into large pieces, which are often regarded as milk lumps in the mouth of babies. Sometimes people often mistakenly believe that thrush is oral thrush. In fact, if you observe carefully, you will find that there are subtle differences between the two diseases.

Oral ulcers, also known as aphthous ulcers, are a type of ulcer that occurs on the oral mucosa and is often surrounded by congestion. If consuming irritating foods causes severe pain, this disease will heal itself without treatment, and it usually takes one to two weeks to fully heal.

1. The ages of patients of the two are different: thrush mainly occurs in infants and young children, while oral ulcers can occur at any age. The characteristics are different, thrush is a snowflake-like patch that covers a larger area. Oral ulcers are mainly scattered or single wounds, characterized by red, yellow, concave and painful appearance.

2. The symptoms of the two are different: Thrush is a fungal infection, which mainly occurs in infants and young children. When the disease occurs, snowflake-shaped patches appear in the mouth, covering a large area and with a white film on the surface. In addition, thrush does not cause any feeling and does not affect children's eating. Failure to thoroughly sterilize bottles and nipples, children biting their fingers, and unclean nipples during breastfeeding are all sources of infection. Oral ulcers are more common in viral infections and can occur at any age, mainly scattered or single wounds. Oral ulcers are painful, and children may feel uncomfortable when eating.

After the above detailed introduction, I believe you have a clear understanding of the difference between thrush and oral ulcers. When thrush or oral ulcers occur again, I hope you can make an accurate judgment about the two, then prescribe the right medicine and find the corresponding treatment method. Only in this way can the disease be well controlled and treated.
