Clinical manifestations

The main symptom is a piercing, dry cough, which is usually severe and has a nighttime cough as its main feature. Colds, cold air, dust, fumes, etc. can easily induce or aggravate coughs. The cough is mostly persistent dry cough, especially obvious at bedtime or in the early morning, with frequent and severe attacks, and many patients have itchy throat. It is often triggered and aggravated by colds, exercise, and inhalation of cold air. It can also be caused by contact with pollen, dust, and certain foods.
