Treatment of knee osteoarthritis

Treatment of knee osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis of the knee has always been a stubborn disease that torments the elderly. As a result, the knee joints of many elderly people are deformed and it is inconvenient for them to walk. Studies have shown that osteoarthritis of the knee is mostly related to fatigue and is more common in older, obese women. Some may also have limping and restricted movements, and some even rely on drugs to maintain their condition. In severe cases, lower limb paralysis may occur.

Of course, osteoarthritis of the knee joint is also related to other factors, such as genetics and bone density. It is a degenerative disease and a chronic osteoarthritis caused by cartilage degeneration and bone hyperplasia. It is more common in the elderly, but young people also suffer from this disease.

Treatment of knee osteoarthritis

1. Non-surgical treatment (conservative treatment) includes physical therapy, medication, injection therapy and traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

2. Surgery

(1) Arthroscopic exploration and cleaning of the knee is a new and relatively safe and practical technique for diagnosing and treating knee joint diseases. It reduces pain and complications for patients, and has the characteristics of rapid recovery and significant efficacy.

(2) Knee replacement Artificial knee replacement is a surgery that replaces part or all of the damaged knee joint with artificial joint parts. The worn and damaged joint surface is removed, and an artificial joint is implanted like a brace to restore the normal and smooth joint surface.

Acupuncture

Conventional acupuncture points include Dubi, Xiyan, Xuehai, Liangqiu, Yanglingquan, Yinlingquan, Zusanli, Hegu, Jiexi, Weizhong, Ashi, etc. For severe heat in the knee joint, add Dazhui, Quchi, and Hegu; for severe dampness, add Sanyinjiao; for qi stagnation and blood stasis, add Geshu;

Electroacupuncture is performed on Dubi, Xiyan, Xuehai, Liangqiu, Yanglingquan, Yinlingquan, Zusanli, Hegu, Taichong, Ashi points, etc. After getting the qi, connect the G6805-2 electroacupuncture treatment instrument, using continuous wave or sparse and dense wave, and the stimulation intensity is based on what can be tolerated.

If you pay attention to maintenance, knee osteoarthritis can still be treated. This requires paying more attention to not letting the joints get cold, avoiding secondary injuries, and not overloading the joints. In addition, many people are now starting to supplement with glucosamine, which is also a very good method and has a good lubricating effect on the joints.
