Symptoms of hyperopia

Symptoms of hyperopia

Myopia and hyperopia are the most common ophthalmic diseases. What they have in common is that they make patients' vision blurred and unable to see clearly, thus affecting their normal work and life. However, there are differences between myopia and hyperopia, mainly manifested in that their symptoms are different. So, let’s take a look at the symptoms of hyperopia. Do you also suffer from hyperopia?

Some people always feel blurred vision in their daily work and life, and have difficulty seeing clearly whether they are far or near. Is this hyperopia or myopia? How to accurately judge whether you are suffering from hyperopia or myopia? Now you may wish to understand it by referring to the symptoms of hyperopia.

When the eye at rest causes parallel light to form a focus behind the retina, this is called hyperopia. The optical focus of this type of eye is behind the retina, so the image formed on the retina is blurred. In order to see distant objects clearly, the focus behind the retina must be moved to the retina using the power of accommodation. Therefore, hyperopic eyes are often in an accommodative state and are prone to eye fatigue.

Common symptoms of hyperopia

1. Vision: In order to obtain clear images, patients with hyperopia need to use accommodation regardless of whether they are looking far or near, and the strength of accommodation is related to age and health status.

(1) Mild hyperopia in adolescence is also called latent hyperopia because of strong accommodation and normal vision at both near and far distances.

(2) Moderate to severe hyperopia. Some people have normal distance vision but poor near vision, while others have abnormal distance and near vision, so it is also called manifest hyperopia.

(3) As people age, their ability to accommodate changes declines, and both near and far vision decline, with near vision declining more significantly, resulting in the phenomenon of "premature visual acuity".

(4) In young patients, due to prolonged and excessive accommodation spasm, the refractive power of the eye is temporarily enhanced, causing the hyperopic eye to appear emmetropic or myopic. The latter is called pseudomyopia.

2. Patients often have chronic conjunctivitis, blepharitis or blepharitis.

3. Visual fatigue

Visual fatigue is the main symptom of hyperopia patients, manifested as blurred vision, swelling and pain in the eyeballs, eye sockets and eyebrow arches, and even nausea and vomiting, which is more obvious when reading or working at close range. The symptoms will be alleviated or disappear after a short rest.

4. Excessive accommodation by hyperopic patients is inevitably accompanied by excessive convergence, thus producing accommodative esotropia, with the eye with a higher degree of hyperopia being in an esotropic position.

5. The various parts of the eyeball are small, the lens size is basically normal, and the anterior chamber is shallow. People with high hyperopia have small eyeballs. The optic disc is small, red, has unclear edges, and is slightly raised, similar to papillitis or edema, but the corrected visual acuity is normal or unchanged from the past, the visual field is unchanged, and long-term observation of the fundus shows no change. This is called pseudopapillitis.

Here is a detailed introduction to the symptoms of hyperopia. Do you suffer from it? If the above symptoms have basically appeared, it is recommended to go for examination and treatment as soon as possible. Of course, hyperopia can be mild or severe, and the symptoms are also different. If you cannot accurately determine whether you have hyperopia, it is recommended that you seek expert advice to avoid delaying the disease and causing adverse consequences.
