It's winter now, and many people are starting to feel pain here and there again, with long-standing joint pains coming on like a whim. Conditions such as soreness, numbness, swelling, pain, and lack of mobility in the legs are called old cold legs. When suffering from illness, especially when the pain reaches the bone, many people just want to ask God: What is wrong with me? How can I stop feeling pain? So what should we do when we encounter chronic cold legs? The Chinese medicine experts of Dayitang give two daily maintenance suggestions to all the micro-friends who are troubled: | Maintenance acupoint 1: Xingjian acupoint | Location: On the dorsum of the foot, between the first and second toes, at the junction of the red and white flesh behind the edge of the toe web. Press and rub the Xingjian acupoint | Maintenance acupoint 2: Liangqiu point, Xuehai point | If the pain is in the patella, you need to treat the Liangqiu and Xuehai points. Sit on the bed, lie flat on your legs, relax your thigh muscles, and gently tap the Liangqiu and Xuehai points for 2 minutes. Liangqiu: about 2 inches above the knee Xuehai: Inner side of thigh, 2 inches above the inner end of the patella Gently tap Liangqiu and Xuehai for 2 minutes. | What to do when you have chronic cold legs| In addition to the daily maintenance mentioned above, soaking your feet in hot water, massaging the soles of your feet, promoting metabolism, or performing moxibustion can also have a certain relieving effect on old cold legs. If the pain persists for two weeks without relief, it is recommended that you go to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medicinal Bath Recipe for "Old Cold Legs" Numbness and pain in the legs (mostly the knee joints) that recurs and cannot be cured for a long time is collectively called old cold legs. "Old cold legs" are mostly knee arthritis. The pain of knee arthritis often worsens when the weather turns cold or it is cloudy and rainy. The elderly have insufficient liver and kidneys, lack of essence and blood, and are more likely to suffer from knee arthritis. Therefore, most patients with old cold legs are the elderly, and the name of the disease "old cold legs" comes from this. In the early stages of "old cold legs", there is frequent dull pain in one or both knee joints, which worsens during activities and eases after rest. Sometimes there are acute attacks of pain, joint stiffness, and popping sounds when moving. The stiffness in the joints increases after prolonged sitting and improves slightly after activity. In the later stages, the knee joint will swell and deform, the range of motion will be limited, and persistent pain will occur. To prevent and treat "old cold legs" in winter, the first thing to do is to keep the lower limbs warm. The room should be kept warm, and clothes and bedding should be kept in the sun to prevent moisture. When the temperature drops and the weather turns cold, add clothes and bedding in time. Pay special attention to keeping the knee joints warm. It is best to use warm knee pads when going out in winter. In recent years, knee arthritis has tended to occur in younger people, which has a lot to do with young women wearing skirts and high heels in winter. Wearing high heels increases the stress on the knee joints exponentially, and coupled with the poor thermal insulation effect of skirts, it is easy to suffer from knee arthritis when you get older. Proper exercise and maintaining a healthy body are necessary to prevent cold legs. It is best to choose exercise such as Tai Chi, jogging, and walking. The amount of activity should be such that you feel comfortable and sweat slightly. The key is to persist. You can also choose to stand in horse stance to exercise your knee joints. When practicing, separate your feet and parallel to your shoulders, bend your knees and half squat (the angle between your thigh and calf should not be less than 120 degrees), your knees should not exceed your toes, and your knee joints should not shake back and forth or left and right. Hold your fists at your waist, and either raise them horizontally in front of you or to the sides. The standing time depends on each person's endurance. Generally, you can stand until your legs feel slightly sore. You can practice this two or three times a day. However, some exercises may aggravate the wear and tear of the knee joint, such as climbing, going up and down stairs, etc. Patients with chronic cold legs may wish to try medicinal baths: 30 grams of Clematis, 30 grams of Lycopodiella Cistanche, 20 grams of Polygonum multiflorum, 15 grams of Sophora japonica, 20 grams of Viscum album, 20 grams of Angelica sinensis, 30 grams of Millettia reticulata, 20 grams of Cyathula capitata, 10 grams of processed frankincense and raw myrrh, and 15 grams of Angelica dahurica. Usage: Boil the above medicines in 4000 ml of water, then simmer for 15 minutes. Pour the medicine into the medicine bath bucket, and use the steam to fumigate the knee and ankle joints first, and then bathe the legs when the temperature of the medicine is appropriate. Take it for about 30 minutes each time, once a day, for two days each time. |
