Which acupoints should be massaged for frozen shoulder

Computers bring us convenience but also bring us health risks. Many young people suffer from periarthritis of the shoulder at a young age because they play computer too much. Especially some office workers suffer from periarthritis of the shoulder because they work at desks in front of computers for a long time. While there is no good treatment for frozen shoulder from the current Western medical point of view, traditional Chinese medicine has unique insights into the treatment of frozen shoulder. For example, acupoint massage is very effective in treating frozen shoulder.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that periarthritis of the shoulder is caused by the shoulder being exposed to wind and cold. Because the chest and shoulder joints become stiff and their movements are restricted after the disease, it is like being frozen, so it is called "frozen shoulder" or "frozen shoulder".

1. Press the Tianzhu

Acupoint location: The depression just below the occipital skull, that is, the depression on the outside of the protruding muscle (trapezius muscle) at the neck, about 2 cm lateral to the center of the posterior hairline.

Method: Use the tip of your finger to press the Tianzhu point on your head for about 2 minutes.

Efficacy: Removes dampness and cold, dredges meridians and relieves pain.

2. Press the air chamber

Acupoint location: Located on the upper chest, slightly in the middle of the base of the clavicle.

Method: Use the fingertips to press the chest area for about 1 minute.

Efficacy: Relaxes muscles and tendons, dredges meridians, warms the meridians and dispels cold.

3. Massage Jiquan

Acupoint: The center of the armpit, where the axillary artery pulsates.

Method: Place your thumb on Jiquan acupoint and rub it with appropriate force for about 1 minute, until you feel a sore and swollen feeling. Alternate hands.

Efficacy: Warming the meridians and activating blood circulation, dispelling cold and dampness.

4. Press and rub the Yunmen point

Point location: Located on the lateral side of the chest, above the coracoid process of the scapula, in the depression of the subclavian fossa, 6 inches lateral to the anterior midline.

Method: Use your knuckles to massage the Yunmen point on the shoulder for 2 minutes until you feel a sore sensation.

Efficacy: Invigorates Qi and promotes blood circulation, dispels wind and dissipates heat.

5. Press the supraclavicular fossa

Acupoint location: Located in the center of the supraclavicular fossa, 4 inches away from the anterior midline.

Method: Use the fingertips to press the supraclavicular fossa of the chest for about 1 minute.

Efficacy: Promote blood circulation, dissipate blood stasis, warm the meridians and dredge the collaterals.

6. Massage Chize

Acupoint location: Located in the cubital crease, in the depression on the radial side of the biceps brachii.

Method: Place the thumb of the left (right) hand on the Chize of the opposite side, and use the other four fingers to wrap around the elbow. Rub and press with appropriate force for about 1 minute, until you feel a sore and swollen feeling. Alternate hands.

Efficacy: Removes dampness and cold, promotes blood circulation and dredges meridians.

Although acupoint massage for frozen shoulder is only a physical therapy, it can effectively eliminate the pain in the patient's shoulder. However, if you want to completely solve the problem of frozen shoulder, patients must first start by changing their lifestyle habits. They should pay attention to playing computer as little as possible in normal times. Even if you need to use the computer for a period of time at work, you should pay attention to moving your shoulder. This is very helpful for the prevention and treatment of frozen shoulder.
