Rehabilitation exercises after femoral fracture surgery

Rehabilitation exercises after femoral fracture surgery

Whether the femoral fracture is treated conservatively or by other methods, attention should be paid to rehabilitation exercises after treatment. If rehabilitation exercises are not performed, it is difficult to completely restore the function of the femoral head. Especially for patients who undergo surgical treatment of femoral fractures, attention should be paid to postoperative rehabilitation exercises for femoral fractures. The specific exercise methods are as follows:

Rehabilitation training for the affected lower limb mainly includes the following three aspects:

1. Muscle strength training in bed: Perform straight leg raises (keep the knee straight) in supine position, healthy side position (affected leg on top) and prone position, lift and lower slowly and under control. First see if you can complete the movement. If not, you will need some help from others. If you can, see if you can complete it easily 20 times. If you can, you can add a sandbag of about 1 kg at the ankle joint to complete the above movement. Practice the three movements once a day, do three sets each time, repeat 10 times in each set, or repeat until fatigued. Be careful not to feel pain when practicing the movements, and keep the movements under control. Do not use too much force, and do not let the raised leg fall uncontrollably. If the patient is older or has discomfort in the prone position, do not practice the prone position.

2. Joint mobility training in bed: The three main joints of the affected lower limb are the hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint. Check whether the range of motion of each joint is consistent with the corresponding joint on the healthy side. If they are the same, the joint should be moved through its full range of motion 2-3 times a day, and each movement should be repeated 2-3 times each time to maintain good joint mobility. If movement of a joint in a certain direction is restricted, you need to practice the restricted movement repeatedly, 5-10 times each time, with an amplitude that causes a stretching sensation and very slight pain. Practice 1 set every 1-2 hours during the day.

3. Standing weight-bearing training on the affected side: Under the premise of not causing pain, see what the maximum weight can be on the affected side. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. If the center of gravity is in the middle, bear weight evenly on both lower limbs, with each lower limb bearing 50% of the body weight. If pain occurs at this time, move the center of gravity to the healthy side, reduce the weight on the affected side, and gradually improve the weight-bearing capacity of the affected side until the affected side can bear 100% of the body weight.

The above three are the rehabilitation exercise methods after femoral fracture surgery. Patients who like them can stick to them. For overweight patients, in order to reduce the weight on the femur, they are advised to pay attention to losing weight in normal times so that the femur can better support the whole body and allow themselves to stand up as soon as possible. You can also perform specific exercise methods according to the doctor's advice and cooperate with the doctor's treatment to recover as soon as possible.
